The U.S. government pressured Moscow on Monday to turn over NSA leaker Edward Snowden, while sending a strong message to the globe-trotting fugitive: we know where you are.

Snowden, who left Hong Kong for Russia over the weekend, had been expected to board a Cuba-bound flight from Moscow on Monday morning, but was nowhere to be found on that flight.

A Justice Department official, though, told Fox News that the department knows his location, without providing further detail.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney later said he is presumed to be in Russia.

"We do expect the Russian government to look at all the options available ... to expel Mr. Snowden back to the United States," Carney said.

The Ruskies should just pack it up into a box and ship it back like Obama did with Churchill’s bust.

Was it even noteworthy enough for Putin to laugh? If Russia is doing this in front of the world, imagine what they are doing that we know nothing about.

And what will our chicken-lipped marsmallow leader use for pressure?

His wax walking stick...

or...

His cotten-candy coated straw?

Putin wouldn’t even have to f*rt to blow this dork over.

What is really going on here with this Snowden ordeal? I mean really....this bunch in the White House messed up with the paperwork and couldn’t get him back from Hong Kong? Really?

This administration gets everything it wants. I wonder if this isn’t the plan all along? That way the secrets get out to other countries (level the playing field) and bammy and his bunch can say..’heck we tried to get him back’

I trust nothing from this regime.

Ouch!

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/jun/24/edward-snowden-booked-on-plane-from-moscow-to-havana-live-coverage

Erik Wemple of the Washington Post asks Glenn Greenwald what he makes of media hostility directed toward... Glenn Greenwald. Glenn replies:

Media reaction to our scoops has been mixed. Many journalists have taken them very seriously, been quite supportive of the reporting I’ve been doing, and have with particular vigor defended our free press rights to report this.

But it is true that the Guardian generally, and me in particular, are outsiders, not members of the Beltway establishment media clique. I’ve purposely made myself an outsider by very aggressively and harshly criticizing not just the culture itself but the most prominent members of it, including David Gregory and Andrew Ross Sorkin, who this morning suggested on CNBC that I be arrested.*

Glenn goes on to write that the “Beltway establishment media clique” are “just courtiers doing what courtiers have always done: defending the royal court and attacking anyone who challenges or dissents from it.”
