EL MONTE, Calif. (KTLA) Police were investigating the fatal officer-involved shooting of a two-year-old German shepherd inside the fenced-in yard of a family in El Monte.
Officers came to the home on Maxson Road on Wednesday to follow-up on a report of a runaway teenager.
The encounter with the dog, named Kiki, was recorded by a home security camera.
It showed two police officers arriving at the home of Cathy Luu and her husband Chi Nguyen around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Police said the officers shook the gate and otherwise took care to check if there were dogs present in the yard before opening the gate and entering, according to a report in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.

I hardly ever post here any longer, but wanted log-in just to welcome you to my a**hole list.
Hey,nice of you to drop by.I look forward to chatting with again in ten years.
Bull sh*t...The gate was clearly marked with dog warning signs.. Not one but *two* signs.
The cops completely ignored the warning sign and not only opened and walked right though the gate, but left the gate open.
No one in their f'n right mind would walk through a gate with multiple signs warning of dogs.
The cops could have easily contacted the homeowners so they could have secured their dogs first.
Once again, agents of the government are completely in the wrong and completely out of control.
Unless,of course, they have important business at the address in question. The initial call was about a runaway teenager. Is your imagination so barren that you can't picture scenarios in which a runaway teenager might be in danger? Are runaway teenagers...particularly girls...ever befriended by serial killers who rape, torture and murder their new found friend? Are they ever befriended by pimps who get them strung out on dope and then, somehow, they've contracted AIDS a week later?
If it was your teenage daughter who was missing you wouldn't want the police to waste a single moment in finding her.
Bull shit...important business? Take a report? obtaining some info? Your going to walk right into private property, with signs that say, "WARNING DOGS"...Not one but two warning signs??
Then these arrogant government agents just leave the gate open as they stroll though?
This agent of the government then opens up with weapon endangering every neighbor in the immediate area?
BS!
Cops have come to believe that their lives and safety are more valuable than ours. They have the "right" to go home at night. We, the peasants, do not enjoy that same right.
It sure was, by the homeowners.......See Post #54.............
Please *do* get back to us when it's your teenage daughter who is missing.Methinks you'll be whistling a slightly different tune.
So a report about a missing teenager elicits nothing more than a yawn from you?
They were coming out to obtain routine info, take a routine report. They walked right through a gate clearly marked, WARNING DOGS...
You don't do that unless your chasing a murderer, or rapist who just committed some violent crime, then run thorough the gate after them by all means. But this WAS NOT THE CASE.
They were even reading and carrying paper work as they completely ignored the warning signs on the gate, entered the property, then of all things, just disrespectfully leave the gate open! MORE BS>
This could have all been avoided if they just contacted the homeowners to give them 20 seconds to secure their dogs. This female cop could have easily killed someone in the immediate area due to this RECKLESS behavior.
The video don't lie. This is BS...These cops were clearly in the wrong for shooting this dog to death, who was in it's own *fenced* yard.
You’re FOS...This was as routine as it gets for these cops...There was no stinking emergency pal...
Yes it does.It clearly indicates a potentially serious matter, maybe even a matter of life and death, that would lend a sense of urgency to their visit. Therefore, even if those "beware" signs were of any importance if this had been a missing tricycle case, they were of *no* significance in a case of a MISSING CHILD.
Suppoased intent doesn't matter. High capacity magazines are dangerous.
So you’re accusing them of being too blasé in investigating the case?
There was no emergency....
Watch the video...it’s as routine as it gets....They caused all of this, endangered everyone in the neighborhood, totally ignored the DOG WARNING signs and unnecessarily killed the family pet..And even left their gate wide open after entering.
Very routine...There was no emergency here.
Just out of curiosity,is the typical Aussie cop armed? I’ve been there several times but always managed to avoid contact with the police so I didn’t notice. If they are are “unjustified shootings” as big an issue there as they are here? Shooting of people *or* animals?
You idiot!

When it's your child missing how routine do you consider it? "Very" routine? Kinda routine? Or not at all routine? And how routine would you want the *police* to see your child's plight? It's a simple question.
