Snowden heads to Venezuela via Moscow, Havana: airline source

Former U.S. National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden will fly from Moscow to Cuba on Monday and then plans to go to Venezuela, a source at the Russian airline Aeroflot said on Sunday.

The source said Snowden was already on his way to Moscow from Hong Kong and would leave for Havana within 24 hours.

The South China Morning Post also reported that Snowden had left Hong Kong for Moscow and that his final destination might be Ecuador or Iceland. The WikiLeaks anti-secrecy website said Snowden was heading for an unnamed "democratic nation".

The flight to Moscow prompted speculation that Snowden might remain in Russia, whose leaders accuse the United States of double standards on democracy and have championed public figures who challenge Western governments.

But Putin's spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said he was unaware of Snowden's plans and the Foreign Ministry declined immediate comment on whether he had asked for asylum.

Sory to say ... there’s no way in Hell that a Harry Reid led Senate would impeach Obama.
*********
Absolutely true, but impeachment hearings in the House could open a lot of eyes to what’s really going on in this country. That in itself would be worth the exercise.

I realize I'm nitpicking here, but the House impeaches presidents like Bill Clinton. Not that I'd give anyone in the House the slightest benefit of the doubt that they'd impeach the pres(id)ent.

As for Snowden, I can't manage to care overly much about him. If he was a ‘whistleblower’, he could simply have walked to an ACLU office, called the local paper, and been on Fox and Friends by the next day, with the worst possible punishment he'd be facing would be an extended vacation at ClubFed.

Instead, weeks later he's turning up in Hong Kong exposing US surveillance? Just strikes me as an attempt to exit stage left with a big bag of cash that went horribly wrong, and there weren't any NSA or Chinese buyers for his information. He figured he had about a month to sell it, then get down low, and time ran out.

And in the aftermath, both parties want us to look at Snowden and not the actions of Congress in authorizing these wholesale actions against liberty and privacy, in the name of ‘the war on terrorism.’

On the side of strict protection of privacy are people like Sens. Lee and Rand Paul (R-Ky.), along with those Democratic senators. They are joined by conservative media titans Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly, and Matt Drudge, and liberal figures like filmmaker Michael Moore and Glenn Greenwald, who has broken many of the stories relating to the leaks.

In the other corner defending surveillance practices is President Barack Obama, who has shifted his stance as president. He has been joined by House Speaker John Boehner, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, and Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), the chairwoman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Also in this camp are influential media voices like the left-leaning Time magazine’s Joe Klein and The New Yorker’s Jeffrey Toobin, as well as conservative media figures like Charles Krauthammer.

“Any sympathy I had for Snowden ended when he disclosed specific Chinese IP addresses that NSA hacked.”

Agreed.”

Well, the ChiComs have been hacking the U.S.A.’s government sites.

Isn’t it kind of tit-for-tat? Everyone with more than one brain cell already knew that these kinds of things were happening.

I have the same view. So it’s still true? He told how we hacked?

That is treason.

“But, not tickled about him heading to VENEZUELA?!!!!”

As badly as the U.S.A. government ‘wanted’ Bobby Fischer he managed to avoid ‘capture’ for decades. Iceland is the only country on the planet that agreed to give him asylum.

Yes they can guess there are attempts at just about anything, but GIVING SPECIFICS such as how US hacks or exactly what it hacked gives them a boost!

Yes, he has not flown on Singapore Airlines! That is a given! ;-)

This shows that he’s heading to Equador, but who knows what’s accurate anymore. I’m sure he’s elated that all these “leaks” are coming out about him. :)

“WikiLeaks said he was being accompanied by Sarah Harrison, described by them as a UK citizen, journalist and legal researcher.”

“Russia’s Itar-Tass news agency said there is a flight ticket in his name from Moscow to Cuba and that he will then fly on from there. It said that his flight to Havana from Moscow would take place on Monday.”

The color is simply a descriptir of the underlying ideology shared by Red China, Russia, Venezuela and Cuba - namely national socialism characterized by radical anti-Americanism.

I understand now that you are a fan of this ideology and its current heartthrob, Edward Snowden.

“I have to agree. If you hold a clearance, you are sworn to protect sources and methods.”

That is true enough. However, a case where U.S.A. law was broken by the people who the whistleblowers were trying to expose has never been tried successfully in a court-of-law.

It is still a grey area and in my opinion the government does not want to see a case settled in a court-of-law.

Reference: Daniel Ellsberg. His case was thrown out of court because of government misconduct.
