Former U.S. National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden will fly from Moscow to Cuba on Monday and then plans to go to Venezuela, a source at the Russian airline Aeroflot said on Sunday.
The source said Snowden was already on his way to Moscow from Hong Kong and would leave for Havana within 24 hours.
The South China Morning Post also reported that Snowden had left Hong Kong for Moscow and that his final destination might be Ecuador or Iceland. The WikiLeaks anti-secrecy website said Snowden was heading for an unnamed "democratic nation".
The flight to Moscow prompted speculation that Snowden might remain in Russia, whose leaders accuse the United States of double standards on democracy and have championed public figures who challenge Western governments.
But Putin's spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said he was unaware of Snowden's plans and the Foreign Ministry declined immediate comment on whether he had asked for asylum.

Yes, that is pretty much when he went from hero to traitor in my book.
I’d do one better.
If I were POTUS, I’d pull a Reagan and have the plane carrying him to -well, wherever -intercepted and forced down.
Use fighter jets to do, just like Reagan did with the Achille Lauro hijackers. And frogmarch Snowden in front of the international media.
But he won't.
I’m sure he’s paying each of his benefactors with whatever valuables he has. The Chinese got something, the Russians got something, the Cubans will get something, and the Venezuelans will get something. It’s no mystery what he’s paying with.
So there's no USSR but there *is* an Easter Bunny. Is that your position? I didn't think too many Freepers walked round wearing rose colored glasses.
>> Riding on any airline that far and long should be punishment enough for any crime <<
Well, you obviously haven’t flown on one of those Asian airlines with their gorgeous stewardesses!
Today’s Russia is more like Imperial Russia than the Soviet Union.
Don’t get hung up on Putin being KGB, he would have served the Czar with equal fervor if he was still in power.
yep, leaves one thinking is there any place left on Earth where the People are the actual government.
Great minds think alike. :)
Good post.
The USSR was dissolved on December 24, 1991.
So I rounded up. ;)
If you believe that, you're wearing rose colored glasses. (;>
@all - You guys are seriously hilarious..... red China, Moscow, Cuba, Venezuela. The Soviet Commie tour. From and unknown source at Reuters to boot, and you are all lapping it up like starving animals. This is too rich. The balloon is floated that this guy will be traveling to all the communist hotspots of past and present enemies, and the conservatives fly off the handle accusing this guy of being a traitor.
Do you really think that this Snowden would be that dense to announce any travel plans he may have? Also how do we know he was the one that actually said what Chinese IP addresses the NSA hacked?
I have to agree. If you hold a clearance, you are sworn to protect sources and methods. If his intent was to whistleblow, he could have done that through other means/channels. And he could have headed straight to some sanctuary state. But willingly taking the methods out on a thumbdrive and heading to China?
Cheney called it last week. the guy is a spy, China first, the Moscow? I’ll be surprised if he is alive for very long...after they’ve gotten what they can from him. He’ll WISH he was only waterboarded..
Michelle Malkin just posted this interview on Twitter with Fox and Friends on 6/13/13 regarding whether he is a hero or a traitor:
Would the Founding Fathers Have Condoned NSA Snooping?
Michelle Malkin and the Fox and Friends hosts discussed whether those who call Edward Snowden a “hero” truly understand the possible national security implications of his leaks.
He didn't. The info is coming from the airlines and the Russians, who confirmed this morning that he's at the Moscow airport.
Nice post. I think Snowjob may even be a plant. Start sowing the ground now so when deeper stuff comes out they can say its old news.
Of course I dont believe anything I am told by the USSA media and wickedness rules right now so I suspect Ed is not what he says he is one way of the other.
“..anti-secrecy website said Snowden was heading for an unnamed “democratic nation”.”
Secrecy for me but not for thee.
