Congressman Elbert Guillory has eloquently told the America people why he is leaving the Democratic Party. As many now know, Elbert Guillory is a black politician from Louisiana, and I give kudos, cheers, and hurrahs to him. I am always heartened by a black person awakening to the reality that the Democratic Party stands for liberalism, and liberalism at its core, is racist.
Progressivism, liberalism, socialism, communism have one thing in common, as I interpret them. They all require that some designated human or group of humans maintains power over other humans. To maintain power (and often wealth), the drivers of these ideologies must keep the masses that they manipulate under control. There must be a permanent underclass of people enabling the wealth and power of those who would be their "saviors." Those who would provide for the needs that a balanced human being should provide for himself.
This situation is no different in my view from the slavery that my ancestors (and many other groups throughout human history) experienced. It can even be argued that it is worse. Southern slave owners shackled bodies; these ideologies shackle the soul.
What touches me deeply, as a black person, is the realization that blacks in America are perfect fodder for manipulation by those who adhere to liberalism. Several centuries of conditioning to think that one must be cared for to survive makes for an easy target. Consequently, liberal Democrats (black and white) have used blacks perniciously.
As an adult, I have been able to assess my experience in America with a degree of maturity. I have experienced helpful revelations and come to a few conclusions, all of which position me diametrically opposed to any ideology that diminishes the humanity in human beings.

The first lesson history offers is very few people ever trouble themselves to learn the obvious lessons of history.
I believe that a big reason so many liberals are so reflexively “inclusive,” to the point of self-destruction and self-delusion, is that many of them harbored very racist thoughts and said very racist things when they were younger.
Now they bend over backward to demonstrate how non-racist they are. That “non-racism” morphs into “non-judgmentalism” and eventually into “non-self-preservationism.”
They do this to expiate the sins of their earlier years. Like all reformed sinners, they are at pains to prove to everyone how completely they have changed.
Good read, Sylvia Thompson, just one major problem; Elbert Guillory ain’t in the Congress....yet.
True. I think they also project their own racism on others. Like when they say the word blackboard is “racist” or when leftist geniuses like Janeane Garofalo(or whatever her name is) said that those voting for Herman Cain are really “racist” and just trying to hide it. A rational person doesn’t say things like that.
That which you would tame you must also care for.
The contemporary meaning of “liberalism” is vastly different than it was just a few short decades ago. Classical liberalism was for smaller government, and greater personal freedom. Now it’s just a cover for marxism. Prior to about the 1970’s, communist and marxist groups either labeled themselves accurately, or hid beneath terms like “progressive”. Now they are out in the open, and have fully taken over the democrat party. Couple that with the fact that marxist/communist forces have targetted the American black community for nearly a century, recognizing that their social marginalization made them ripe for “the message”. We are now reaping the bitter harvest.
This article clearly shows the circular connection. Liberalism = Democratic Party, Liberalism = slavery, slavery = Democratic Party. From its Party's origin till now - Slavers.
As I’ve said many times, Blacks can and have overcome the legacy of slavery, but they may never overcome the legacy of welfarism and liberalism.
The left is all about control and expanding control, until everyone and everything is controlled. Look at what it has done for blacks in this country, and ask if that is what you want the left to do to you and your children.
they are still racist. they believe virtually no minorities or women could ever make it on their own without libs stacking the deck for them. it’s liberal plantation, liberal condescension.
Thanks ReformationFan.
Excellent. The inherent racism of liberalism — I like that. And Guillory certainly exposed the Dems for who they are.
So-called progressives need a permanent underclass to keep themselves in power so they can control the underclass and the rest of us too. Deep down, they know that if they ever woke up in a world where poverty was eliminated, they would be out of jobs. So they deliberately make the problem worse so they can exploit it. It’s a shameful way to be, but it’s sadly standard operating procedure.
Exactly. The Dems have a vested interest in minority voters seeing themselves as “forever oppressed” and in need of leftist politicians to “save” them.
Of course. Their philosophy dates back to Jean-Jacques Rousseau:
“Each citizen would then be completely independent of all his fellow men and absolutely dependent on the state.”
It’s simpler than that.
Libs just think they are smarter than everyone else and therefore not only does that mean they want to rule everyone else, nobody can be as good as them without their help.
Kick him back to the dims. Will just be another rino
Excellent observations and presentation...a lady of wisdom
There is, no doubt, much truth in this. The older generation of blacks is much more comfortable with themselves and their circumstances.
Under Jim Crow, many southern cities had two "downtowns" -- one white, one black. In Montgomery, AL, for example, the black downtown was about a mile-or-so east of the white (and current) downtown. There was a 9-or-10 story hotel, along with some other high rise office buildings, plus a complete selection of retail stores.
While the area has pretty much gone to seed now, you could imagine it at one time being a bustling, busy center of commerce and community. The professionals, business owners and shopkeepers would've been people of substance...and relatively prosperous.
Desegregation destroyed that community.
I often wonder if Jim Crow, while a bad thing of itself, was not a healthier experience for the black community than the "desegregated" welfare state they now "enjoy".
La. state Representative and now La. Senator.
