In an email sent hours before his death in a fiery single-car crash in Los Angeles Tuesday, award-winning journalist Michael Hastings reportedly wrote that he was working on a big story and was going to go off the radar for a bit.
The subject of the email was FBI investigation re: NSA, KTLA reports.
A copy of the email, sent on Monday, was reportedly provided to KTLA by Staff Sgt. Joseph Biggs, who was a recipient of the email.
Hey [redacted copy], the Feds are interviewing my close friends and associates. Perhaps if authorities arrive BuzzFeed GQ, er HQ, may be wise to immediately request legal counsel before any conversations or interviews about our news-gathering practices or related journalism issues, Hastings wrote in the email.

That would have been his first mistake.
Unless you can give the message personally, you don’t send a message to anybody.
There was a post on FR (can't remember the specific article) that said the engine was ejected from the vehicle. At that point, all bets are off, as you have hot parts coming into contact with fuel being released from severed lines at high pressures.
Exactly earlier in the week I read that a witness to the wreck said it sounded like a bomb going off just before he hit the tree at around 100 mph. Body burned beyond recognition well above the threshold of a normal car fire much hotter—this had to be a hit.
Here are a few to feed the beast:
1. Someone cut his power brake and power steering lines, causing him to lose control.
2. Someone hacked into his car's control computers and forced his car to accelerate and swerve into a tree.
Bear in mind that #2 isn't so far-fetched, as we now have cars that can parallel park themselves while you pedal the gas. If the car can turn the steering wheel by itself, so can someone else via remote control.
Also, weren't there stories in past years about the ability of police to remotely cut the engines of cars that are fleeing? How about how On-Star can remotely unlock your car from their central sites?
I wonder what trim options he had on his Mercedes C250 coupe. I'd think he had all the driver assist features, such as GPS navigation, collision avoidance, parking assist, etc.
Hackable? How about the NSA spying? If the car is connected to his cell phone, then it would have been tracked just like any other cell phone. Could someone have used the same type of hacking that was found on Sharyl Attkisson's computer to take over control of the car's computers?

Someone on an earlier thread commented that the Mercedes had rubber motor mounts and that’s why the engine/drive train flew out of the car. But didn’t explain the supposed hard turn it made into the tree. Lots going on here. This needs to be investigated by somebody really good.
Yeah lots of “coincidences” including the most brutal regime right out of chicago thugocracy in charge as well.
#2 could explain a lot...
You didn’t hear what happenened to Glen?
Now there is question you can post just about any week of the year..
Engine emerged at a 90 degree angle. Law of physics / would not happen that way.
Poster on earlier thread said the car would have had a black box
Making finding of autopsy and black box public would help eliminate a lot of doubt.
The questions is... why would a mature intelligent young employed man be driving at 100mph on a SIDE STREET at 3am, and not under police pursuit ?
This post on a yesterday thread, made the most sense:

It is pointless to say this, since the GOP Members of Congress are not going to do anything, but
The big enchilada in this matter is the use of NSA data to fuel IRS, EPA, OSHA, and other illegal harassment.
The connection is there, somewhere. If this was a Republican President, the Democrats in Congress would already have a proper investigation underway.
Also, if your aunt had ba**s, she’d be your uncle.
Yep you can bet the Black box was burnt to a crisp in the fire. No evidence there.
A college grad that worked for me began wearing a Che T-shirt and shortly thereafter got a job at Apple, writing security software. I wasn’t surprised.

He was also working on a story related to a suit by Jill Kelly. She was suing the NSA over the release of her e-mails. He had told friends that he was being followed and also told other reporters. A fireman was quoted just after the crash, he stated he had never witnessed a fire like this at an auto accident.
Was this Mercedes Benz a DIESEL ?
I saw a car that was in the exact same type of accident. It hit a telephone pole. Chopped the car in half, the engine was down the street. No fire, and the occupants got out and ran away (they were being pursued by police, which is why they were going so fast on a side street). That car had a Gasoline engine and we know how flammable gasoline is. Diesel fuel is very hard to ignite.
video why did it take so long for fire-rescue to show up?
