LOS ANGELES (KTLA) The crash that killed journalist Michael Hastings was ruled an accident by police, but conspiracy theories continued to circulate on Friday.
Hastings, 33, was killed in a fiery solo-vehicle crash in Hancock Park early Tuesday morning.
...Staff Sgt. Joseph Biggs told KTLA that he received an email from Hastings on Monday.
Biggs had known Hastings since 2008, when the journalist was embedded in his unit in Afghanistan.
On Monday morning, I woke up and I got an email, and its very panicked, Biggs said.
He was blind-copied on the email, which was sent to Hastings colleagues.
In part, it said that the feds were interviewing his close friends and associates, and that he was onto a big story and needed to get off the radar.
The FBI has denied that Hastings was ever under investigation.
It alarmed me very much, Biggs said. I just said it doesnt seem like him. I dont know, I just had this gut feeling and it just really bothered me, he said.
The email was sent just before 1 p.m. on Monday, 15 hours before the deadly crash.
Breaking news photographer Scott Lane happened to be less than a mile from the scene of the crash, and shot video of the fiery aftermath.
Video taken from his cars dashcam also caught what appeared to be Hastings Mercedes minutes before the crash, speeding through a red light.
More than 30 seconds pass after Hastings car goes by, and no other cars pass through the intersection.
Theres no cars that are following him, Lane said. He flies by and 10 seconds, 20 seconds, 30 seconds goes by
No cars are following him.

Sooner or later these pesky idealistic journalists will realize that the first warning is the last warning. It shouldn’t take plutonium poisoning for them to get the hint.
YEP
Who believes anything the FBI says anyway. They are all liars covering up massive stuff for Obama and his minions.
The MSM is worthless. Worse than worthless.
They are cowards, not journalists.
They have calmed down significantly since their little “meeting” with Holder, haven’t they?
Ah gotcha!
Whenever the Mainstream Media calls something “Conspiracy Theory”....there is always a lot more to the story. Always
Always
Glad Holder can’t ‘meet’ with the Guardian.
The key to all of this is that regardless of the real truth, benign as it might conceivably be, we all know for a fact that the authorities ARE incompetent, that they do LIE at the drop of a pin, that they are completely capable AND willing to off political dissidents, be they private citizens or journalists if they believe they can get away with it.
Point being, that unless you get confirmation from God, you simply can't believe these people. Even if they are not complicit and are telling the truth.

Wow!! Someone at Buzzfeed or Rolling Stone has to know what story he was working on surely. At least parts of it. I doubt he would have kept everything to himself. If so...expect more shoes to drop!
This is very suspicious!!
No diesel engine is available in the US for the Mercedes C-Class. It has a 17+ gallon fuel tank (uses premium gas).
Maybe he watched an episode of Psych where the art thief fakes his death by blowing himself up in a boat when someone was shooting at him and the coroner says the dental records matched.
Can’t remember how they got around that
Sounds like throttle stuck open, loses control, crashes, triggers predetermined explosion. Sounds perfectly plausible.
Drone attack? Ridiculous.
He could also have been drugged with some kind of hyper stimulant. Nothing left to run toxicology on. He’s ashes
I wonder if what info his wife is holding.

Modern cars come with stability control standard now, many others have active suspension, throttle by-wire and soon steering by wire.
I wonder if the government, say the CIA for instance could remotely tap into the ECU of one of these cars and take control of it.
Say instruct the ECU to throttle up to 100 MPH, reverse the stability control then lock up the front passenger wheel.
