Today, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announces that nationwide, 77.8 million consumers saved $3.4 billion up front on their premiums as insurance companies operated more efficiently. Additionally, consumers nationwide will save $500 million in rebates, with 8.5 million enrollees due to receive an average rebate of around $100 per family. Todays report includes the 2012 health insurer data required under the Affordable Care Acts Medical Loss Ratio, or 80/20 rule. The report shows that, compared to 2011, more insurers are meeting this standard and spending more of their premium dollars directly toward patient care and quality, and not red tape and bonuses...

Funny, my premiums rose 12%.
Just like those jobs the administration “saved”...
I don’t know how they calculated this, but this is BS.
How stupid do they think we are?
Oh yeah, we elected Obama. .. Twice.
"I personally saved a billion on my premiums!"
Well, I can certainly believe you on that and I think that it is true.
This is just fodder for the leeching masses to cite when they want to get indignant when calling into a local talk radio show. They don’t have any idea about what costs what because they don’t have to pay for any of it.
I wonder if fewer people in the workforce has anything to do with Insurance companies collecting fewer premiums.
I’ll be you a dollar to a donut they didn’t even put together the study themselves. They probably paid a contractor to do it at very high cost - with the predirection that the outcome be this.
Yeah, and I have a rainbow colored unicorn flying around my yard! We are truly living in insane times.
My health insurance costs went up 28.5%.
To suggest there were ANY “savings” on premiums in 2012 IS A LIE!!
Government math. They say premiums would have gone up 20%, but when they only go up 15%, there’s a savings.
Barry has done the same with unemployment and every other economic indicator...advising us how much worse it would have been, without porkulus.
Nope - even my TriCare Prime went up.
Open enrollment is coming in August for our company. Insurance coverage for families to increase $200 per month. The shop workers making 12-14$ per hour can’t afford that hit. Women and children hurt most.
Truth be known, I don’t care. Most of these people voted for this FREE health care, wonder how they like it now? Free has never been so expensive.
What a complete and utter load of bullshit.
So, I’m saving $100? Is this before or after my brand new deductible of $200?
Come on Gaffer, you simply don't know how to do democrat math. You may have had a 50% increase in your healthcare insurance premium, but the democrats estimate that it would have increased 60% if not for the Affordable Care Act. Therefore, the Affodable Care Act was responsible for your 10% savings on your healthcare insurance premiums. Feel better? You should thank Obama and the democrats that had the wisdom to knwo what was good for us.
In typical Democrat lying liberal bilge,my 2000 dollar INCREASE in premium was actually a cut, because it was supposed to be a 2500 dollar increase
We are supposed to believe that government intervention caused private companies to operate more efficiently? What a howler. "There Oughta be a Law" that the use of the words "government" and "efficient" in a single paragraph is a Class A Felony.
I worked for a boss once who, finding the results his analysts provided him not to his liking, would give them the answers he wanted and direct them to re-do their analysis. Sounds like he went to work for HHS.
Yeah...I guess I’m just one of those throwbacks that have a hard time in dealing with lying Democrat Math.
