...Im still with the group claiming ruptured fuel tank theory... The residue of what appeared to be rocket exhaust covered most of the first class cabin seats. This was never explained in the original investigation report.
This is consistent with a missile strike on the forward section of the aircraft where the warhead failed to detonate. There would be major structural damage from that impact - which could then lead to breakup of the airframe and rupture of the fuel tank.

The government tried to explain the residue as due to the glue used to connect the foam seats with the upholstery. That was shot down so fast that the government ceased trying to give explanations, until the CIA disinformation video was aired.

From one report I read that residue was from a test so dogs or some sniffer equipment could locate it. It was invisible.
