Most people, OF ANY DENOMINATION, do give ANY money to politicians.
MOST Catholics do not attend Mass on a weekly basis. Around forty percent attend. Of those that attend a vast majority voted AGAINST Obama. Most of the ‘Catholics’ that voted for Obama haven’t darkened a church door in decades outside of a funeral or wedding.
That being said, you would be shocked at the force that many practicing Catholics have been using to bash the USCCB, their local bishop, and even Rome to throw the bums out!
The Church has a very fine line to walk. It is by far the largest religious institution in the entire World. They are also the largest Charitable Organization not only in the World, but specifically in the U.S. They own more Hospitals, colleges, health centers, food programs, work programs and religious centers than ANY other religious organization, BY FAR!
This means that they are in contact with the powers that be on a much greater rate than any other private institution. That also makes them the largest target for derision and attack. Evil people HATE Christians and the Catholic Church in particular. They hate them and work to bread division between those of good character. That is how they win. Look at how Obama tries to divide people by race, religion and class. STOP FEEDING THE OBAMA HATE!
Thank you for the insight, I really had not thought about the angle of the hospitals etc... I do understand the reference to part time members, we have those as well. My wife gets on me when I find out how a fellow church member votes or their politics and I immediately detach from them and on occasion tell them. She says I need to be more forgiving to which I say no we don’t have time.
I just would like to see a study done, not just on Catholics, but Protestants too, as to why some vote the way the do and explanations. I bet that would be quite a read.
