Obama is hardly ever seen in the Oval meeting with foreign leaders.
Dubya had a photo op with a foreign leader several times a week. Obama doesn't cultivate any friendships. This article points out especially the chilly relationship between Obama and Putin.
The article tries to make it seem that W. was no more successful with Putin but even in this attempt its clear that W. was much more successful in cultivating a strong relationship with the former KGB leader.
Obama thought he was greater than all foreign leaders and there was no need to lower himself to their level and surpisingly here it is the NYT who points out where that viewpoint is now failing him.

Chilly relationship between Russian employer and US employee? Guess there were some things lost in “transmission” . . .

In Europe, especially, Obama was welcomed with open arms, and some people had unrealistic expectations about him, said R. Nicholas Burns, a longtime senior American diplomat. Noting that Mr. Obama continued some unpopular policies like the use of drones, he said, People dont appreciate that American interests continue from administration to administration. OH PUHLEEZ!!! Gawd, these sycophants make me puke!

I guess no one wants to 'hang' with a loser.
Maybe our media won't say it, but the rest of the world is not so blind.

It is surprising that the NYT is pointing this out. But maybe not...
However, I was recently at an event in NYC with a large number of leftist folks (not radicals, but just your basic Times-reading liberals), and they don’t like Bambi either. Some of them think he’s too off the wall with his drone attacks, some of them obviously find him creepy and arrogant but didn’t quite know how to put it into words, and others, particularly Jews, are secretly worried about his Islamist bent.
The problem is that everybody is scared to say anything. I’ll give the Times a few points for this one.

Not everyone can be Roosevelt and Churchill forming a personal bond to end the Second World War. No, but expecting a Ceausescu or Honecker wannabe to get all smiles and backslaps is over the top.

Al Qaeda in Syria, The Taliban and The Muslim Brotherhood are all 0bambi’s buddies.
So what’s the problem?

It's slowly dawning on selected media celebrities that 0bama was elected with no experience and no skills whatever. It was all about appearance, and as long as that was enough - his first visit to Berlin, for example - people loved him.
I won't repeat the full litany of failure, but a fellow with no foreign policy chops whatever whose Secretaries of State were too inexperienced to help is going to have a very rocky ride when he meets the pros.
To: what's up
Not only is there no interpersonal relationship between these leaders and Obama... really now... does anyone remotely think they have even a modicum of respect for him?

Actually they don't even like him.

It’s a hell of a situation when one has more respect for the Russian president than for our own.

The body language is telling. Obama’s the only one with crossed arms, which communicates a very defensive posture. He’s in over his head and deep down inside he knows it.

He’s nothing but a two bit, banana republic dictator to them. He neutered America. America isn’t the country it once was. We are now nothing but the world’s whipping boy.
