Norway to Draft Women Into Armed Forces

The small Scandinavian nation said it would be the first nation in NATO to draft females into military service after decades of confining its conscription activities to men.

"We are sending a signal that, once again, Norway's thinking ahead when it comes to equality, Norway's foreign minister, Espen Barth Eide said in an interview Sunday, two days after the parliament voted overwhelmingly in favor of a new law mandating the drafting of women. About 10% of Norway's military is currently female, but the goal is to take the number to 20% by 2020.

Norway has long considered itself a forerunner in equality issues, enforcing quotas for female representation on corporate boards and offering generous paternity leave. Women make up about half of those holding political office.

Laila Gustavsen, a member of the Labor party and on the foreign policy and defense committee in Norwegian parliament, said the law sends the necessary message that "both men and women must have rights and duties" and that "the military has in many ways been the last part of society that has been dominated by men."

I read about that as well. Serious PTSD. Insomnia, terrible dreams, vomiting, emotional problems (swings), etc.

Later on he tried to help Korean and Vietnam war Vets with PTSD...then called “battle fatigue”. Unfortunately it said he died in a plane crash when he was only 45.

Strength, agility, the ability to march and run and climb walls and so on is required, and women don’t have it.

That is why women are left out of the the male standards.

Drafting women is population control.

Even if they’re not killed or maimed they’ll be prevented from reproducing for the extent of their service.

And you can believe the targeting of conservatives by the IRS will have nothing on the draft board sending your daughters to the new Russian Front.

Unlike the dyke in the one photo....Norwegian women are the hottest on planet....better looking than their Swedish counterparts .

The big problem Norway will have is with distraction....and heartbreak if their hotties come home in body bags

Contrary to another posting....Norway has good armed forces....and eventually kicked out the Germans on their own in WWII with little Allied help

Idiotic, but the logical conclusion to feminist, anti-military idiocies. At least the Norwegians are consistent in their idiocy. I hope they’re learning to speak Russian there.

Intriguing idea. Personally speaking, I think the voting age should be raised to 35. Those younger who volunteer to serve in the military can be allowed to vote earlier as an incentive for joining.

Liberty before equality contradicts the PC worldview they’ve been indoctrinated into since watching the Disney channel as pre-schoolers.

Why are there men’s and women’s events in high school, college, pros, the Olympics?

You've made a good point. Though, some would say, that women may be as good (or better) in shooting, what is the main method of combat.

Anyway I'd like to look at a company of female conscripts doing a run in 100-pounds full gear being kicked in the ass by a gunnery sergeant as sergeants are used to do here.

Russia and Israel didn’t end female troops because they were too good.

Side note: If she was decent looking, you know damn well what’s on my mind.

Russia has never had female conscription. Though it used females during WWII - girls were good as biplane night bombers, snipers and anti-aircraft gunners. But that situatiion was just too bad.

Indeed. If “egalitarians” were truly consistent, they would insist on ending sex-segregation in the Olympic games. Somehow I don’t think that would happen,
