Country singer Slim Whitman, the high-pitched yodeler who sold millions of records through ever-present TV ads in the 1980s and 1990s and whose song saved the world in the film comedy Mars Attacks!, died Wednesday at a Florida hospital. He was 90.

Wow. Thought the yodler pass into God’s arms years ago.
Rip.
Despite all the jokes, I liked his singing.
I particularly liked his rendition of “Beautiful Dreamer”.
Rush will have something to say about this on his show today.
Like others, I had thought Slim Whitman long gone into the Great Beyond. I was introduced to Slim’s music when I was a young officer that had an E7 working for me who was a fan of Whitman’s yodeling. The E7 felt my cultural boundaries needed to be expanded so he loaned me some of his collection of Slim Whitman. Whitman was certainly a unique talent and had a memorable style.
So did I. RIP, Slim.
Maybe he’ll play “Paloma Blanca?”
Yes. Most likely he will play that. He will also mention the passing of Vince Flynn.
The Amish clan? Yoders.

Saw him in person and enjoyed his singing. God rest his soul.
Poll.
It is often said the great die in threes.
Who will the other two be?
RIP. Still I loved the parody of him they did on SCTV as a supporting cast member of “Indira/Evita.”

Wylie's cover of Christmas For Cowboys is a Holiday staple at my place.
I saw him back in 1966. I thought he affected a macho stage presence to offset his high-pitched voice. He was tall and broad-shouldered.
My father was a real fan and took us to many shows. This is a big loss to country. He will be missed bless his soul.
He used to have these late night adverts for his music, touting him as the No. 1 selling musician in Britain.
Which let my warped mind wander with Elizabeth, asking Phillip:
E:”Phillip? What’s that singer that is so popular here?. You know, that American...”
P: Oh, he’s Slim something. Slim...Oh bloody hell. What’s his name. Whit something. Yes, Slim WHITMAN! That’s it.”
E: Indeed.
Anyway, Happy trails to you Slim. You are now joining the recently deceased Stompin’ Tom Connors in the Cowboy singer chorus.
Him sing-um heap pretty song that become-um campaign classic ... Freeper can hear by click-um here ... but should set-um down coffee first!
Great one!
I’m sure Howie Carr will play this today as he reminds his listeners, “Slim won’t be coming down for breakfast this morning.....”
Vince Flynn died?
