Stand With Arizona
We've all seen it on TV. Endlessly.
Marco Rubio, in an ad from a fake-"conservative" organization, confidently insisting that his amnesty bill would provide the "toughest" border enforcement "in the history of the United States...possibly the world", as the narrator growls about "border security on steroids!"
Unless you have been living under a rock the past two months, you know full well the ad is a lie, and Rubio has utterly destroyed his own reputation with repeated, absurd lies about the 'Gang of Eight' bill.
Today, with his own vote Rubio officially made a liar of himself, and exposed the entire Gang of Eight fraud for all Americans to see.
The Senate voted down an amendment introduced by Sen. John Thune (R-SD) that would have prevented the administration from granting any illegal aliens legal status under the bill until at least 350 miles of double-tier fencing had been erected, and would withhold full citizenship rights until 700 total miles have been built.
The vote was 54-39 against, with Rubio, McCain, Flake, Graham, and a new problem RINO, Lisa Murkowski, voting against. Two vulnerable Democrats, David Pryor (D-AR) and Joe Manchin (D-WV) supported the measure.
Ironically, they defeated a relatively modest amendment which could have gone a long way towards bridging the gap between amnesty advocates and opponents. For example, this amendment would not have prevented the "path to citizenship" opposed by at least 70 House Republicans, nor prevented legalization of tens of millions of illegal aliens - which Stand With Arizona and a growing phalanx of activist groups oppose.
It would merely have delayed those steps, for a few years until the fence is built. And remember, this is already the law of the land. In 2006, Congress easily passed, and President Bush signed, the Secure Fence Act, which funded this construction - until the Pelosi House killed the funding in 2007. Even then-Sen. Barack Obama voted in favor of the border fence bill, as it passed the Senate overwhelmingly, 80 -19.
Yet the Amnesty-First crowd still voted down this reasonable amendment - proving they have absolutely no interest in securing the border, and proving yet again that the true "extremists" in this entire immigration debate is the 'Gang of Eight'.
So share this news with your friends who still believe Rubio's border lies.
And immediately call your Senator and demand that they vote against Harry Reid's upcoming - rushed - cloture vote in the coming week.
Call Toll-Free at (888) 978-3072 and tell your Senator to vote NO on S. 744.
Good, meaty, USEFUL post! Thanks.
Oh — and FU, Marco Estupido.
Can’t trust gang members.
The gang of 8 are willing to sell out America and do not care what happens to this country. All that matters to them is future votes.
Its very important that Rubio's political fate as a result of what he's done here be so gory, so horrific, that it'll be a hundred years before the buffoons in the GOP try this again.
I think Marco has chucked his reputation.
He was doing so well...
The Domocrats wanted to neutralize RUBIO.
Well they’ve done it now.
Well, instead, they ‘ve got CRUZ!!!!!
Lotsa luck on him!!!
Yes, Rubio lies.
He wants to run for President and thought pushing amnesty thru would get the Hispanic vote in 2016. Idiot.
I’m tired of his BS. And, those commercials.
Rubio is a Flake.
“EMBUSTERO”
I wouldn’t worry about Cruz being “Rubioed” Cruz seems to be much more intelligent and not naïve like Rubio. Rubio just doesn’t have much sense.
54 - 39?
Sounds like about a half-dozen refrainced from voting. Some real courageous politicians there.
Parliment of Whores.
Dear Marco,
Im sorry to do this in such an impersonal way, but since you cant be bothered to talk with me, youve left me no choice. Its over. I dont want it to be this way, but you simply arent the man I thought you were. When we first met, after a rally where I watched you give a stump speech so moving I actually teared up, I fell hard. Seeing you up there, handsome, articulate, passionate it was more than I could stand. See, I had been searching for someone like you. Someone who spoke my language, the language of liberty. Someone who didnt seem to simply be saying the words, but who really meant them. And when you spoke of your parents, humble Cuban immigrants who came here with nothing and did the jobs Americans now wont do, I knew you understood. I knew you had been imbued with the belief that America is great because of its freedom, not its government. As you spoke of what your parents taught you growing up, that you could lose your country in the (you snapped as you said) BLINK of an eye. I fell. Even against my better judgment. And my past experiences.
See, you werent my first. He was a dashing Congressman from across the state who would make forays into his heavily gerrymandered district and stop by and visit my show. He was extremely funny and would do a perfect Bill Clinton impression at the drop of a hat. We shared the same politics and I genuinely liked him. So much so that when the news broke one morning as I was doing my show that he was embroiled in some unsavory scandal involving male underage pages, I used my air time to defend him as the victim of slanderous lies. Right up to the point where he tendered his resignation and slunk out of DC. I was crushed. I had been betrayed by someone I judged incorrectly. His personal failings became my life lesson. A lesson I had learned well. Until I met you.
After that first meeting, I was smitten. So much so that I accepted every opportunity to hear you speak, hoping I wouldnt see a chink in the armor of my new shining knight. And I didnt. I emceed fundraisers and walked away from each more impressed than the last. I introduced you at a Tea Party rally and watched you whip the crowd into a frenzy preaching exactly the things that brought the Tea Party to life. I supported you. I urged others to support you. And even as I did, the last thing I said to you was a simple,
Dont go to Washington and change. Because if you do, Ill spend every waking hour taking you down.
You should have listened. I should have seen it coming. When you turned your back on the Tea Party the first time, I should have been suspicious. But I had my rose colored glasses on. Sure, your voting record is pretty solidly conservative. On some issues, youre more conservative than I am. But boy howdy did you bungle immigration reform. And I think this has you baffled. I get the impression that your strategy to the White House went something like this: Go to DC and lay low for a couple of years. Begin to raise public profile by giving Republican response to State of the Union. Handle ensuing water flub deftly. Really make waves by solving the unsolvable problem of illegal immigration by taking the lead, gathering bipartisan support and getting the bill passed. Bask in the glory of being a problem solver who helped Republicans take credit for legalization of 11 million Democrat voters. Win the White House. Ta-da!
Except a funny thing happened on the way to the White House. People actually remember the bait and switch of the 1986 amnesty and arent inclined to believe Congress will actually DO anything about border enforcement. They are tired of hearing the sob stories of people who ultimately broke the law, whatever the valid reasons for doing so may be. They recognize the myth of conservative Hispanic voters. They are concerned about the cost of welfare for the unskilled immigrants who would not only be here but who would likely bring more unskilled family members here too. And most importantly, they dont believe any assertions made by politicians whose motives are far from pure. Because not ONE politician Ive heard has given a compelling reason, other than inconvenient auto accidents and cheap tomatoes, of why this is GOOD for the people who already live and pay taxes here. Why is it good for us? Why Marco, why?
And dont get me started on Syria. Have we learned nothing from arming rebels in an area of the world where the rebels more often than not turn those very weapons against us eventually? Why in the world would you support aiding the rebels in Syria? In this war weary nation, advocating more intervention in a country where, if all goes as it seems to be headed, a new Islamist state will be formed soon is a losing strategy. And yet, Marco, you say you wouldve already intervened by now if you were President. What then is the standard for intervention? Is it as soon as rebels launch the first grenade? Our modern history is littered with examples of the US of A dipping a toe where it didnt belong, from the Contras to Somalia. Early intervention has lead to the prolonged slog, and no one can tell which way thing will go at the outset. I am tired of giving weapons to people who then shoot them at us. I remain confused as to why you feel differently.
My friends say I should give you another chance. That I shouldnt throw you out just because youve been acting weird lately. But they didnt see the man you were then. So they dont know how much youve changed. Sure, your voting record is good. But your new friends are not the kind of people Id hang around with. And I think they may be trying to use you to get what they want. And if youre that naive you certainly arent for me.
So here we are. Our good times a mere memory, the bloom is off the rose. Of course there could be a reconciliation. But only if you convince me that THIS Marco is just a bad dream. That THAT Marco was the real you. The real you who got temporarily seduced by the big guys in DC. The real you who found your way back. If that happens. Call me. If not, lose my number and Ill send you back your black t shirt.
With Sadness,
Mandy
Good riddance Marco. I am going to enjoy watching you implode
Biggest mistake Reagan made as President was believing the Democrats were serious about border security AFTER passing amnesty. Marco Rubio, you sir are a moron.
Liars, all.
I'm very happy that he couldn't hide his 'real self' all the way to the White House'. It's only down hill for this faker from now on. I hope everyone is watching.
Marco Rubio, RINO - Dead to Me
