Nobody even came close to the history making humiliation of Rick Santorum with their narrow losses and close calls, as he proved to be a great embarrassment to the GOP with his 17 point wipeout.
Santorum didn’t just lose, his constituents destroyed him and finished his political career.
Santorum’s devotion to the radical pro-abortionist Arlen Specter has never been explained, from Specter’s presidential campaign to remove life from the party platform, to finding out that Santorum was still supporting him for 2010.
Specter is a glimpse into Santorum’s secret politics.
RE: Arlen Specter
I said this before in our back and forth last year -— GRATITUDE AND LOYALTY for Specter’s consistent and solid support of Santorum.
This DOES NOT MEAN that Santorum supports Specter’s pro-choice agenda.
Rick is just not the guy. He should make another Senate run and vote conservative and anti big govt for 6 years and then he might be more credible.
Here is Santorum endorsing Specter's 1996 presidential campaign and campaigning with him, to make the GOP a pro-abortion party, this was years before Santorum became a Romney man.
Santorum/Specter, 1996/2010
Specter SUPPORTED a lot of Santorum’s causes up to and including fighting for such conservative justices like Clarence Thomas ( he actually made Anita Hill look like the liar she really is ).
Specter also supported Samuel Alito in the midst of all the opposition against him.
He also supported MANY of the conservative judges that were nominated.
You can push and push to tell me that Santorum is really a pro-choice supporter in disguise, that does NOTHING to convince in light of his VOCAL OPPOSITION against abortion.

In an age where Todd Akin is vilified, such a stand is a potential political liability, but HE TAKES HIS STAND PUBLICLY.
Santorum will never win political office again and he knows that, he is now looking for an income niche, he wants to earn some sort of devoted and loyal audience that will keep him in some kind of work, running an organization, TV, perennial candidate, something.
So in your view, the anti-Reagan, pro-choice until he ran for office in 1990. Rick Santorum, was correct to support and campaign with Specter to remove life from the GOP party platform in 1996, and to devote himself to supporting Specter even in 2010, until Specter finally had to become a democrat to get Santorum to quit promoting his politics.
This is some kind of devotion, baby.
If you want me to agree with you, then this is one statement I can agree with.
In light of younger blood like Ted Cruz and Rand Paul, Santorum’s chances are slim.
BUT IF HE WERE THE NOMINEE FOR ONE REASON OR ANOTHER, I’D VOTE FOR HIM IN A HEART BEAT.
However, your continued pushing the ball on his being a supposedly pro-choice politician in disguise is TOTALLY UNCONVINCING.
Santorum is a shallow phony, a political professional, who is desperately looking for a place to land.
Although he was a Romney man, his luck in the 2012 primary earned him a small national audience of true believers, not enough to win an office ever again, but he hopes that it is enough to find a way to make a living.
RE: Santorum is a shallow phony, a political professional, who is desperately looking for a place to land.
You can say what you want. but I believe he is better than MANY of the other candidates out there (including Newt Gingrich ).
On the issue of abortion, HE STOOD HIS GROUND.
Weird, on a thread about 2016, you seem frozen in late 2011.
I find you weird too, you’re frozen on a dead man named Arlen Specter.
Stop letting the small purple states vote 2 months before anyone else gets to would be a start.
No, if you are going to continue promoting Santorum, then Santorum needs to be discussed, and supporting Specter all the way into 2010 and his switching to the democrat party, is most definitely relevant.
RE: No, if you are going to continue promoting Santorum
Excuse me? This is an article from the National Review. PERIOD. It simply says what he’s doing NOW. There’s no promotion there.
I am simply saying that IF ( and that’s a big IF ) he wins the GOP nomination. I WILL vote for him over whoever the Democrat is without hesitation.
You’re well within your rights not to vote for him.
Now, If you want to discuss Arlen Specter, fine, but please don’t call me weird for mentioning what he espoused in 2011 ( unless you have shown that he has changed today ).
Actually if Newt had pulled out of primaries that he had zero chance of wining and releasing those votes to Santorum, we likely would not have had Romney.
He stayed in and awarded those delegates to Romney, so maybe Newt was the stalking horse in that race.
So did GW and it was for the sole purpose of maintaining control of Supreme Court nominations. You know that and yet you pound this forum endlessly with the same tripe.
The fact that Specter turned traitor was not Santorum's fault. Remember when we all thought that Snarlin Arlen would get to the bottom of Waco and Ruby Ridge?
For someone who merely wanted to say that if forced to in 2016, you will vote for Santorum, you sure post a lot of long argumentative posts to say it.
Santorum is and will remain a major element of Santorum’s political life before Santorum was unceremoniously kicked out of politics by more than 17 points as his constituents removed him from office, of course Santorum remained a Specter man and became a Romney man, of course like Romney, Santorum was anti-Reagan and became pro-life to run for office.
Let’s all pray that 2016 is not so dismal that Santorum can intervene again.
Specter didn’t “turn traitor”, he was always a radical leftist, Santorum’s devotion to Specter and his politics, was sick, it is sick to promote and praise Specter today.
Santorum—devoted to Specter and his agenda 1995-2010.
Watch this video, it and the transcript are more damning than almost anything that I have ever seen in politics.

Arlen Specter announces for the White House, with endorsee, Rick Santorum at his side.
At Senator Arlen Specters official presidential campaign announcement in March 1995, then-Senator Rick Santorum showed his public support and encouragement of Specter by sitting directly next to him as Specter denounced the GOPs war on abortion. It was at this event that Specter proclaimed his total opposition to social conservatism and declared he is in fact running to make the GOP pro-choice.
Santorum is seen nodding and applauding at Specters side:
3:46 mark: In 1996, I intend to win the other house the White House with ten commitments to America Especially a womans right to choose
13:22 mark: Even though we have this historic opportunity for these achievements, there are those in our party who would lead us down a different path and squander this unique moment in our nations history by using our political capital to pursue a radical social agenda that would end a womans right to choose
13:48 mark: When Pat Robertson says there is no constitutional doctrine of separation between Church and State, I say he is wrong
14:31 mark: When Ralph Reed says a pro-choice Republican isnt qualified to be our President, I say the Republican Party will not be intimidated or blackmailed by those kinds of threats.I, and millions of other pro-choice Republicans, will not be disenfranchised and made second class citizens.
15:33 mark: it is not Christian, or religious, or Judeo-Christian to bring God into politics; or to advocate intolerance and promote exclusion.
15:54 mark: I want to take abortion out of politics. I want to keep the Republican Party focused on the vital economic and foreign policy issues and leave moral issues such as abortion to the conscience of the individual. I believe abortion is an issue to be decided by women
16:40 mark: I pledge to lead the fight to strip the strident anti-choice language from the Republican National platform
17:05 mark: neither this nation nor this party can afford a republican candidate so captive to the demands of the intolerant right...
