Nope, as far as politics, there are Yankees and Damned Yankees. Take your self-rightous babble elsewhere. Stop acting out. There are plenty of good conservatives moving here to Texas from other states all the time, and you know it.
I don't care for transplanted liberals any more than you do, but I'm not going to arbitrarily insult every newcomer, just because they're from elsewhere in the country. I'm at least going to take the time to figure out which side of the fence they're on before I make up my mind about them.

If I have to explain that youre beyond hope. Oh, really? Don't bother to spell out your point of view, if you have one.

oh, sure they CAN. But too many DON’T.
The South is littered with former NY/NY/New Englanders who couldn’t get away fast enough but then settled in, telling the locals how much better they do things ‘back home,’ and continue to vote the same way they did ‘back home’ in an effort to make the place they escaped TO the same as the place they escaped FROM.
Personally, I moved from NY to VA many years ago and the very last thing I want to see is a duplicate of the Empire State crop up in the Old Dominion (tho that does appear to be happening).

I guess the point is they can state the obvious even if it is not pertinent to the subject at hand...

If it’s any consolation. The Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania used to be be very conservative, until the liberal bastards from New York and New Jersey started moving here and brought their ways too.

The point is Americas flag is the Stars and Stripes, not the Stars and Bars. The Stars and Stripes is the flag that was attacked on Dec.7, 1941 and 9/11. It’s the flag that are men and women are serving under.

Its the flag that are men and women are serving under. That makes no difference to a region of the U.S that once had its own battle flag, and that has come to mean the southern culture of mutual courtesy, loyalty and valor. By far, most of the men who have ever served in our military come from the south, and certainly recognized and continue to recognize the primacy of the American flag in foreign wars. The Confederate flag represents the battle for their homeland when it was invaded almost a century before Iwo Jima. The two things do not cancel each other out, as you implied.

Seems to me the South started the ball rolling when they fired on Ft. Sumter. So the flag Southerners have fought for and are currently fighting under makes no difference. Why then are they serving under it? Why did they volunteer to serve? My great regret is that I never served. Have you? My gratitude and respect for those who have and who are currently serving is second to none, no matter what point of the compass they hail from. I'm an American. Not a "Yankee'' or anything else, I'm an American. You're just another self-righteous, boorish Johnny Reb wanna-be stuck in the wrong century, living in still the greatest country on Earth. Yeah, whatever General Lee. Your side lost, Keep that in mind.

Darling, I am a woman and born in the border states, having lived in the North most of my adult life. I did not serve, but my husband did. And I have studied much of the history of this nation, north and south. Because I understand the issues of the Civil War does not mean I take sides; both sides had good and bad enough to go around.
You are very quick to judge and label people without truly understanding what they are saying, or even what you are saying. As the founder of this site advises, do not make personal attacks. The least that can happen is that others will call you on your own shortcomings.

And you’re quick to judge me, Madame. I’ve studied history too. And I’m quite able to understand what people say here, particularly on the Civil War(my people fought for the Union.) On those threads I’ve been called every name in the book. I’ve even had my life threatened.
