Perhaps a suddenly firearm-friendly President Obama can put in a good word for Jared Marcum. In April, Marcum, an eighth-grader at Logan Middle School in Logan, W. Va., was arrested when he refused to take off his NRA t-shirt. The New York Daily News reports:
The clothing kerfuffle began when Marcum wore a shirt bearing the NRAs logo and a hunting rifle. As he stood in line in the cafeteria, a teacher ordered him to either change shirts or turn it inside out.
Marcum declined and was sent to the office, where an officer was dispatched after he again refused to comply with the schools request.
Cops arrested him and charged him with disrupting the educational process and obstructing an officer.
Late last week Marcum appeared before a judge and was officially charged with obstructing an officer, reports Fox News. If convicted, he could face up to a $500 fine or a year in prison. He will be back in front of the judge on July 11 if his attorney cannot get the charge dismissed before then.
One can understand this sort of silliness across the border in Maryland (as we have chronicled here and here) but in West Virginia? This is, after all, the state whose senators campaign ad featured him shooting Obamas cap-and-trade bill. Ah, those were the days.

Marxism on the march in the new USSA.
Direct the government spy agencies, including the IRS to look under his parents fingernails, bank accounts, school records, medical records and criminal records...
Find something in there and use it to harass, bankrupt, undermine, compromise and intimidate them.
If they trip, make damn sure they fall.
If the school had a policy of nothing to be written on any t-shirt worn by a student, then the kid was looking for trouble. If this were so, then I’m with the school except for the kind of punishment.
Police states suck. Now I live in one.
He was not charged with anything related to his shirt or his refusal to either change his shirt or turn it inside out. The young man instead was charged with, of all things, “obstructing an officer”, when he defended his right to wear it in front of the cop or agent of the government who showed up.
I’m sure the ACLU is hot on this case......
funny. they pushed their homo and liberal crap on t-shirts under the guise of ‘freedom of speech’
i guess they’re more equal then Marcum
Logan County Schools’ dress code, which is posted on the school system’s website, prohibits clothing and accessories that display profanity, violence, discriminatory messages or sexually suggestive phrases. Clothing displaying advertisements for any alcohol, tobacco, or drug product also is prohibited.
His shirt doesn’t violate the dress code then?
Nothing worn by any student should have anything at all written or advertizing on it for any reason. I can’t believe the garbage that kids are wearing nowadays.
We need to bring uniforms back and not the pervy Japanese kind
The kid had better not plead guilty to any crime with a sentence of one year or more. Otherwise, he will lose the right to own any firearms for the rest of his life.
In the future...no one will be able to say homosexual's are wrong.
No one will be able to say Islam is wrong.
No one will be able to say Democrats are wrong.
No one will be able to say government is wrong.
No one will be able so say anything.
I can't believe the garbage some adults are spewing on the internet, nowadays.
Especially some on this website.....
My God ,,,, we’re in deep crap already ,,, out of control gov’t. run a muck ,,, but it’s OK to stomp on or burn our flag as free expression . This is not the country today I feel comfortable exposing my flag to . Todays gov’t. does not represent the people who firmly believe in their Constitution and the rights and privileges granted by those rights . The president and his minions are a misguided bunch of power hungry morons IMHO .
