On ABC´s The View Monday, co-host Barbara Walters astonishingly defended Maher saying, "I don´t think he intended it to be mean-spirited" (video follows with transcript and commentary): WHOOPI GOLDBERG: At a recent standup show in Las Vegas, comedian Bill Maher apparently called Sarah Palin’s five-year-old developmentally-challenged son Trig retarded. Wow, Barbara Walters made comments before that all children of political opponents should be left alone. She was very angry to see Sarah Palin on Fox, being Sarah Palin. Palin isn’t a political correct person; she is just honest with her thoughts rather than being a backstabbing female like the liberal dinosaur is. Palin lives her convictions like many of us do.
She has class herself /s Baba Wawa wrote a tell all book about her thrilling, interracial relationship with former black Republican Senator, Ed Brooke, of Massachusetts. As the...hot story was being released, former Sen. Ed Brooke was undergoing surgery for breast cancer (men get it too). This lady is real classy and it shows in her defense of Bill Maher -- NOT.

From what I’ve seen of Mr. Maher, he lacks the inhibitions that most of us have by age 7 or 8. He says whatever comes into his head, as though he is perpetually drunk.
