WASHINGTONMounting scandals at the Internal Revenue Service are jeopardizing critical funding for the agency as it gears up to play a big role in President Barack Obama's health care law. Obama sought a significant budget increase for the IRS for next year, when the agency will start doling out subsidies to help people buy health insurance on state-based exchanges. Congressional Republicans, however, see management problems at the IRS as an opportunity to limit the agency's funding just as it is trying to put in place the massive new law.
Republicans have been fighting the health care law ever since Democrats enacted it in 2010 without a single GOP vote. Unable to repeal the law, some Republicans hope to starve it by refusing to fund its implementation.
The IRS scandals are giving them a timely excuse.
"I think it's safe to say they're not going to get the kind of increase they're asking for," said Rep. Ander Crenshaw, R-Fla., chairman of the House appropriations subcommittee that funds the IRS.
"The question is, based on their bad behavior, are they going to end up with less money?" Crenshaw said.

I'm wondering how the IRS has handled tax delinquencies of high level Democrats since Obama took office.
Rep. Chaffetz proposes firing federal workers who are tax cheats
You cant do that! It would mean getting rid of half of Congress. Well, maybe that wouldnt be such a bad idea.
Democrats have been forgiven of any and all tax delinquencies from Taxable Year 2009 forward, they need only show they voted for the straight Democrat ticket. Not too hard to show, in most cases the records indicate that they had voted that way according to the poll records, and they have a paper trail of contributions to Democrat fund raisers.
Whether they showed up at the polls once, multiple times, or not at all, leaving their vote up to the surrogates who appeared for them.
Republicans, on the other hand, are subject to endless audits, going back up to fifteen years, and including any gratuities, service in kind, or “imputed income”. Also, any and all deductions are called into question.
Obviously, Republicans, particularly conservative Republicans, cheat on their taxes much more than Democrats.
RINOs will cave in time for the screwjob to begin in earnest. This is just the AP trying to create false hope for conservatives.
Obama ordered his IRS to rig the election of 2012 for Obama and democrats/socialists in the Senate. Obama also used other gov agencies to rig the election. Why isnt anyone shouting this form the rooftops? Come on Levin, coulter , Sarah Palin, Rush, DRudge etc. call Obama out on this and call for Obamas resignation.
Obamas IRS prevented many tea party groups from getting started The IRS stole the election. We no longer live in a free country

Management problems at the IRS. That’s like calling King King a chimpanzee. Defund IRS. Cut the agency by 75%.
From the linked article:
In 2010, the agency used money that had been budgeted to hire enforcement agents to instead help pay for one conference that cost $4.1 million, according to the watchdog’s report.
Clearly, the IRS can absorb a budget cut.
