A cop would need to press this charge. I hate cops for this type of crap.

Maybe we are writing about different “he”. But if you are implying something about my grandfather by the dates you posted I am very offended.

There are many such cops as you note and I have recently had an encounter with such a cop over shooting my pellet rifle in a very well positioned/protected area of my backyard. The young power player cop was tempered by an older higher rank lady cop. The incident does have me wondering whose side these kind of cops will be on when and if push comes to shove. Gone are the days when it was said that a cop was your best friend. Germany and other nations have gone through similar turmoil and we know where/what of such.

I filled in some details but he asked how it started and that was in the title. He refuse to take it off his NRA shirt and now he may be sent to jail for a year.As you wish, but I still don't see the word "school" in the title of the article. The article is murky on exactly what happened, but he didn't help matters by continuing to lip off while an officer tried, rightly or wrongly, to settle the situation.

As I recall, the Miranda warnings say that you have a right to remain silent; not that you have an obligation to remain silent. The officer is claiming that because the student would not be quiet, that interfered with his job? It sounds like they know they screwed up, and now are looking for any charge they can make stick, just to save face.

claims that when Jared refused to stop talking during the arrest and that hindered his ability to do his job, hence, the obstruction charge
WOW. Is the officer that incompetent? As a former LEO I would not want to be on the same force as this wuss........

We obtained official court documents from both sides of this case. On one hand, the arresting officer from the Logan City Police Department, James Adkins, claims that when Jared refused to stop talking, that hindered his ability to do his job, hence, the obstruction charge. On the other side, Ben White points out that nowhere in the arresting officer's petition, does it mention Jared ever making any threats or acting in a violent manner. Apparently, peasants aren't allowed to interrupt the King's Men anymore...
