Here is an interesting Gallup poll that came my way today from a friend "BC". The poll was taken last month. It shows European Countries Lead World in Distrust of Banks.
Thirteen percent of Greeks said they had confidence in their country's banks or financial institutions in 2012, leading the nearly all-European list of countries where trust in financial institutions was among the worst in the world last year. Seven European Union countries had trust levels lower than 30%, far below the median 55% across 135 countries. Even in the EU's largest funder of the eurozone bailouts, Germany, fewer than four in 10 (38%) expressed confidence in their country's financial institutions.European Bank Confidence
Americans' confidence in U.S. banks increased to 26% in June, up from the record low of 21% a year ago. The percentage of Americans saying they have "a great deal" or "quite a lot" of confidence in U.S. banks is now at its highest point since June 2008, but remains well below its pre-recession level of 41%, measured in June 2007. Between 2007 and 2012, confidence in banks fell by half -- 20 percentage points.US Bank Confidence
County banks generally are safer than country banks. They’re managed more conservatively. ;^)
Is that a trick question or something?
Bank Of America is a big example. Why anyone banks with them I will never understand
I have been banking with BOA for over 30 years...way, way before they were BOA...
I have never, not even once, had a problem with them...(knock on wood)
In my eyes...pretty much every major bank have issues...
and it seems the locally owned banks...which my kids have used are just as big screw ups...
The people who are getting 0.04% interest on their savings accounts and paying 17.99% on credit cards trust banks more than the average person.
So where does one keep money then, the mattress is a bad idea
Canadian banks acted responsibly and avoided the whole housng mess.
I was with BOA for awhile. Nothing but problems. Went back to Chase no problems so far. We have a few local banks but they don’t offer the services that I want.
Chase has been knee-deep longer than BofA has been, so unless you’re referring strictly to customer service issues, you might be surprised. The largest bank remaining that’s not been greatly affected to my knowledge is BB&T but it’s a large regional bank, not a national one. I’m not quite sure the word “trust” applies to financial institutions anymore, myself. But, they’re necessary. Some just appear less worrisome than others.
NO!!
Hell, no!
