Sort of like the converse of the old saw we heard in the Army, “We have done so much with so little for so long we can now do everything with nothing.” These folks in DC know that they can survive anything. So they keep pushing. Like a two year old. They are expert at feigned outrage and controlling the herd. Meanwhile the corruption just keeps getting more and more brazen. Everyone knows there is a “breaking point” where the whole house of cards is gonna topple but no body knows what it is.
During the Klinton years I thought it didn’t ultimately matter because they “couldn’t break anything that couldn’t be fixed”. The line in the sand we couldn’t let them cross was the 2ndA. Now it seems that I was wrong, they can break things to the point it can’t be fixed. With the snooping and blackmail and decades of experience at managing corruption there will be no “leader” or “journalist” who can get in their way. The momentum is just too great. To me, the “line in the sand” is still there because that is the first stop on the bus that we can make an impact but there just is no exit on this freeway before that, it seems. It can be depressing to “see the big picture” and it is like watching a slow motion train wreck which is gonna be a real bloody mess. On the up side, we may not be much of a Christian Nation currently but when the smoke clears the survivors will be believers.
