If only 70 are against it, the GOP leadership can change it to a more Dem-oriented bill to get Dem votes, right?
I think the 70 are calling for a return to the‘ majority of the majority party in house decides what bills get put up for vote’.
Bachmann laid out this possibility:
House comes up with bill that Dems reject and passes it with GOP votes.(lets assume that most freepers wont like it either)
Bill goes committee conference where it is watered down further to get a deal with Reid.
Final watered down bill goes to House floor and Dems with a few Rs pass it , like VAWA or tax bill.
Obama signs it.

We’re talking a simple majority vote aren’t we. The Dems having the majority, it would seem they could pass this easily, and certainly with just a few Republican flippers tossed in.
That’s why I think Kennedy/McCain would have passed if they pushed it to the floor. Alas, ole Johnny Boy wanted to run for the presidency, and couldn’t stick with it.
