Regarding the Patriot Acts Section 215, Rep. Sensenbrenner says that it was originally drafted to prevent data mining, not protect it.
In a recent op-ed railing against Obamas Big Brother tactics, the Wisconsin Representative writes:
[B]ased on the scope of the released order, both the administration and the Fisa court are relying on an unbounded interpretation of the act that Congress never intended.
The released Fisa order requires daily productions of the details of every call that every American makes, as well as calls made by foreigners to or from the United States. Congress intended to allow the intelligence communities to access targeted information for specific investigations. How can every call that every American makes or receives be relevant to a specific investigation?
This is well beyond what the Patriot Act allows.

Racist comments on the part of Sensenbrenner.
What if the author is right and Obama is just writing his own law.
Gee, do ya think?
It is the diligent legislator’s duty to anticipate and head off future misuse - primarily by keeping proposed legislation clear and simple.
I haven’t read it. Have you? Is it truly unclear?
Obama has certainly found ways around laws before, so I don’t know in this case.
What happens when all three branches of government—Judicial, Executive, and Legislative—agree among themselves that something is Constitutional when it PLAINLY IS NOT.
Does it magically become Constitutional, just because all three branches of government SAY SO?
Sensenbrenner is saying that it wasn't an overly broad law.
egg-zackly. once the apparatus is in place, it’s just a matter of time till the next guy pulling the levers decides to pull them harder.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
Bttt.
It’s more subtle than that.
The Patriot Act has nothing to do with this collecting of metadata.
The problem is that the case was in a secret court system- which WAS a fruit of the PA.
Whether the government can harvest huge files of metadata is a matter for the ‘regular’ court system to examine.
This is an abuse of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance COURT,, not the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance ACT.
I didn’t. Call me naive, but I didn’t believe that a president would ignore Congress in such an outrageous way. Of course, I also believed that the law set clear limits. I don’t know which of those beliefs was so badly mistaken. Maybe both.
That makes sense.
Congress? The courts?
The sheep posing as voters?
Unless Americans rise up (and soon) there is little hope to escape the disaster that is coming for this Godless nation.

Definition from the Flyover Country Dictionary: A Federal Politician is someone who:
1.) is unqualified to do any other job in America.
2.) Has lost the ability to discern the difference between right and wrong.
3.) Assumes that there will be no negative consequences to their illegal actions while in office.
4.) Considers election to a Federal office to be a lifelong position of entitlement.
Sensenbrenner, is long overdue for a good scalding, with tar and feathers. I’ve heard this bastard of humanity, defend his raping of Our Country, over the last few days. Him and every last sob, that voted for that abomination and it’s spawn(PAII, NDAA,etc.), are absolute enemies of Our Republic.
Riiiight. How about you never should have authored it? I mean, who couldn’t see abuse of that legislation coming?
