U.S. Military Plan to Arm Rebels Includes No-Fly Zone in Syria

WASHINGTON—A U.S. military proposal for arming Syrian rebels also calls for a limited no-fly zone inside Syria that would be enforced from Jordanian territory to protect Syrian refugees and rebels who would train there, according to U.S. officials.

Asked by the White House to develop options for Syria, military planners have said that creating an area to train and equip rebel forces would require keeping Syrian aircraft well away from the Jordanian border.

To do that, the military envisages creating a no-fly zone stretching up to 25 miles into Syria which would be enforced using aircraft flown from Jordanian bases and flying inside the kingdom, according to U.S. officials.

The White House is currently considering proposals to arm the rebels in Jordan, according to U.S. officials. White House National Security Council spokeswoman Caitlin Hayden declined to comment on the details of those deliberations.

The limited no-fly zone wouldn't require the destruction of Syrian antiaircraft batteries, U.S. officials said.

Officials said the White House could decide to authorize the U.S. to arm and train rebels in Jordan without authorizing the no-fly zone recommended by military planners. A White House announcement could come soon, officials said.

Oh my, everyone wants to serve Obama these days.

These Soros foundations are a diversion of military resources to Finlandize America into girl scout support operations instead of national defense.

Looks like the gaying brass are hard at work in our military while letting the Chinese play men.

This is a tough decision. I feel we should just stay out of it...and I really don't think there are any good guys. All I do know is Assad and his regime are a bunch of war criminals: Intentionally targeting hospitals and civilians (women and children)...but I have no delusions that the rebels don't/wouldn't do the same thing.

Where are those in Congress who will insist on the President asking Congress for a formal declaration of war before funding is provided? You know the ones, they are the ones always waving the Constitution but are selective where it should be applied. Make Obama follow the Constitution.

and when Assad defends his sovereignty in this undeclared foreign intervention, Sunni putsch, to unseat him massquarading as a “civil war”, and Russian SAMs are used against unauthorized foreign planes in Syrian skies, then what?

U.S. policy makers claim increasing Russian & Iranian military activities in the region bother them, and then help instigate a “civil war” on behalf of a Sunni putsch in Syria, and take other actions which INVITE more Russian and Iranian involvement.

why are we “worried about” Syria?

because our policy on Syria is being driven by a Middle East agenda that is not our own, at least not in its origins or its purposes - not in U.S. interests, but yes serving the interests and agendas of others, particularly Saudi Arabia, its Wahabi clerics & Islamists like the MB allied with it.

Arming and training the Muslim Brotherhood and Al Qaeda: What could go wrong.

A no-fly zone where Russians have moved their new missiles in , and may be flying some Syrian aircraft. What could go wrong?

Our military weakened Homosexualized and feminized, and spending what little they have left from sequester on a war thousands of miles away that we should stay the F out of.

What could go wrong.

I already sent one son to Iraq. He came home in a box. The other son isn’t going anywhere. Anyone have a son to spare?

“This escalation to support the Jihadists will be met with force from Russia.”

This so far is a proxy war. The Emperor Jones in the White Hut has been only moderately successful in arming his AL-Qaeda rebel pals. The Russians have been right up front in arming their ally, Bashir.

What’s going to be interesting is that in July we’re landing a sizable military force in Jordan (ostensibly for pre-planned exercises) along with a significant aircraft component. The aircraft will be staying in place after these “exercises” are completed.

Stay tuned.
