Erik Nielson, writing at the Huffington Post, says that President Obama deceived many who supported him during his first presidential campaign, including hip-hop artists. He says that Obama's policies havent helped the minorities who elected him to office.
There was something remarkable about seeing rappers pledge their support to a mainstream presidential candidate, especially given the history of antipathy between national politicians and hip hop. And, of course, there was something equally remarkable about watching a future president embrace hip hop culture. Indeed, whereas politicians on both sides of the aisle had made a political tradition out of demonizing hip hop, Obama was shoulder brushing and fist bumping during campaign events, making appearances with a number of rappers, and even suggesting that hip hop would have a place and a voice in the White House. There were some early voices of skepticism -- Rosa Clemente, insisting that Obama should not be considered a "hip hop president,"

now they will have to contend with the hispanics granted amnesty
(You have to get up pretty early in the morning to put one over on THOSE brainiacs!)
No, they fooled themselves because they projected everything they wanted ontot he blank slate that Obama was...
Ingrates: They got their Obamaphone, didn’t they?
A trained seal could fool the hip hop community.
Sorta related...
I used to work with a young Jewsh guy that was a punk rocker. He was a solid lib and full of the punk ethos. But he was very smart. He just never was around another viewpoint.
Over the months we talked a lot of politics and I put to him the core tenets of conservatism and had him compare them point by point to the REALITY of what liberalism has done. I asked him which was truly ‘establishment’.
I did not fully convert him, but he most often agreed with many conservative values more than he did lib henceforth. It made a difference.
Most hip-hop rappers are too stupid to be idiots. They thought Obama was ‘’down’’ with them and had no clue to what he really is. Honestly, most of these ‘’artists’’haven’t got the brains of a dog.
Congratulations Norm ... what success have had has been after they vote for obama.
LOL!
Bambi, the half-black userper, has dark skin. The “hip-hop” community is full of racist’s who voted for the 1/2 black man because he looks black. Period.
Of course those of us with brains know this already.
Seriously, anyone who identifies with the hip hop scene is already culturally lost. An idiot like Obama doesn’t have the ability to help.
RAP = Retards Attempting Poetry
As an old school punk, I remember the good ol’ days when punks were libertarians or blatantly non-political.
Isn’t it amazing how easily the libs co opted the new breed? Kinda rings hollow for modernish punks to sing ‘F..K Authority” and then BECOME that authority through support and association.
A bit O/T, but IMHO the theme song for the Tea Party is The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again".
To the chagrin of the GOP-e's, we aren't allowing ourselves to be fooled...just ask Boehner.
A couple of the old punk performers changed their tunes, too. (No pun intended.) Henry Rollins of Black Flag became some sort of homosexual “rights” activist. Jello Biafra of the Dead Kennedys went from hardcore libertarian (see the song “California Uber Alles”) to a Green Party lib wimp.
Punk Rock died when Green Day inflicted their first album on the rest of us.
