I remember getting flamed by certain FReepers quite a while back when I criticized Ann on one of these threads.
Reading the comments here...my, how the worm has turned....
Ann is pretty much like Peggy Noonan to me these days. I pay neither one any attention.
See, here’s the thing about politics: The elites know what’s coming LONG before we ever hear the plan.
The Republicans aren’t / weren’t being stupid here. They knew full well that Amnesty is coming (by whatever name it is). That fix is in and the GOPe know it. All the theatrics around that bill are just theater. Barring some Act of God, Amnesty is coming and the demographics will shift through 2016, 2020 and beyond. The Republicans are trying to get some of those votes.
Now, how the GOPe are going about getting those votes can be pretty asinine but this is WHY they did what they did in 2012. Bet on it.
See, heres the thing about politics: The elites know whats coming LONG before we ever hear the plan.
The elites don’t know the future. They are arrogant and think they know. Rove has a terrible record in the past few elections. The GOP wouldn’t be lashing out at conservatives like a 3 year who didn’t get a toy if they actually had a winning game plan.
The problem is the kenyan, Reid, Pelosi and the MSM whipped them. They are happy with the set up now in DC and very frustrated we won’t surrender also.
The beltway GOP continue to be lead by the nose from crisis to crisis by the Dems. They have given up for the next few elections cycles and just want the donor cash. They have no fight in them at all.
This rings. Pretty good ridicule.
“one is reminded of Democratic pollster Pat Caddells reason for refusing to become a Republican: No matter how enraged he gets at Democratic corruption, he says he cant bear to join such a stupid party as the GOP.”
Pat Caddell rules.
And, as always, they take their base totally for granted and are oblivious to the significant number of votes they will continue to lose with their pandering and generally stupid ideas about how to appeal to voters in general.
+1
They may not be able to predict this election or that election but they know full well that between a Democrat majority and a large number of GOPe statists, the leftist agenda will continue to move forward.
The GOPe have probably “decided not to fight today” and instead will pander to get votes today in order “to fight tomorrow”. Although we both know that “the fight tomorrow” will never come. Republicans in the future will have less of a backbone than the ones today have.
I hate to say this but you’re being naive if you think Amnesty (or whatever they’re gonna call it) isn’t a done deal. Sorry for being the bearer of bad news.
Sorry. Use to read your erstwhile brilliant writing but, since you very nearly came out of the closet a few years and then thought better of it, for some weird pre 1980 reason, and fawned over Willard and Krispy while telling the rest of us “You ain’t all that”, I’m over you.
Too bad,
So sad,
Buh bye.
Your career dissipation light is blinking.
Yep. They’re not the stupid party for nothing. After all, whatcha gonna do? Vote Democrat? /sigh
Um, no.
Well she agrees with me that they are just stoopid rather than deliberately helping the rats.
Bump

I am not in denial but I plan on going down swinging. If the beltway GOP will not defend my constitutional rights they will not get my vote. Starting now. I am at peace with that decision after a lifetime of GOP plantation voting.
The latest amnesty buffoonery is actually making it easier for me. It’s one thing to be betrayed by bad policy like amnesty. It’s another thing entirely to carpet bombed with this willfully dishonest campaign about that bad policy.
Rubio & Ryan are making it so easy to leave the GOP. I guess that is their plan. They don’t want thinking conservatives. Well now it’s mutual. If I wanted to be associated with treasonous beltway trash like them I would have been a Dem.
Ann trying to get back some of her conservative creds, so she can sell more books and help push other libs in the next election.
Excellent analysis, Graewoulf!
I’ve decided I’m going to stop using the term “RINO”.
It implies that Republican = Conservative, so that if someone is Republican in name only, they are illegitimately attaching themselves to the party of conservatives. If there is one thing that has become abundantly clear its that Republican does not mean conservatives. In fact, it may well be that the true “RINO’S” are just the opposite, conservatives that, for the sake of getting elected, attach themselves to the GOP which seems to stand for “we want big government too, just not quite as big as the Democrats sometimes”.
It seems to me that a more appropriate designation would be Republican and either P or NP....Progressive or Non-Progressive.
The two arguments regarding the GOPs motives for supporting this are :
1) because they believe that this will help them in elections regarding Hispanics
and 2) That they were bought off by business (SJB main point)
There is truth to both of them.
On #1 Potential POTUS candidates are terrified of Hispanic backlash like Romney suffered, GOP House members are the least affected by that as hispanic districts are already Dem.
On #2 The Senate bill was reported many times to be a deal between the Chamber of Commerce and labor (big unions) by Senators themselves. So SJB is right too.
Senators worry about both depending on state specifics.
No need to disagree on their motives #1 vs #2.
last : Rubio is lying to us , no question about that.
And no, Republicans are not going along with this because they want to lose their own elections. That one is not worth debating. Its mainly #1 and/or #2.
Fat boy from NJ and the car salesman from MA are both big Shamnesty backers. She and Porky Pig Rove’s 15 min have expired and now we have freezer rot.
