A stand down order, according to this idiot General, means “do nothing”. They were told to “do something else” therefore they were not told to “stand down”.

A semantic distinction without a difference. He’d have been better off keeping his yap shut.

To stand down means don’t do anything, but they had an order to go to Tripoli airport to meet the wounded coming in and get them to the hospital in Tripoli - so they had an order to do that, therefore they were not told to stand down.
