What I find most interesting is that he chose a foreign newspaper to reveal his secrets.

It says a lot about the state of the US main-stream media. Which US media outlet is not highly politicized, ideological or not subject to political pressure and threats?

You make an excellent point.

But note that the Washington Post was given the same information by Snowden and didn’t break the story. Which just reemphasizes your point.

If he had taken this to the WaPo someone from the on-premises office of the White House Liaison would have had him arrested in about two minutes.
