The LA Times reports that sales of the book, which concerns a discontented propagandist working for the Ministry of Truth in a time of endless war, are up 5,771 percent as of Tuesday morning. From a sales rank of 12,507 in the days before The Guardian published top-secret government documents provided by Snowden, "1984" has risen to crack Amazon's top 200.

“The Gulag Archipelago” by Alexander Solzhenitsyn should be on the list, too.

I would add "Darkness at Noon" by Arthur Koestler.
From Wikipedia:
Darkness at Noon is a novel by the Hungarian-born British novelist Arthur Koestler, first published in 1940. His best known work, it is the tale of Rubashov, an Old Bolshevik who is arrested, imprisoned, and tried for treason against the government which he had helped to create.
It can serve as a warning to the unthinking Obamites, that their allegiance might someday win them a bullet to the back of the head.

Another excellent book along similar lines that delves into the Obamacare angle is: “The Giver” by Lois Lowry
It use to be a often assigned to young adults.

Orwell was a prophet.
WAR IS PEACE
FREEDOM IS SLAVERY
IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH
“Never again will you be capable of ordinary human feeling. Everything will be dead inside you. Never again will you be capable of love, or friendship, or joy of living, or laughter, or curiosity, or courage, or integrity. You will be hollow. We shall squeeze you empty and then we shall fill you with ourselves.”

I have both 1984 and Fahrenheit 451. Read them long ago, among others of their ilk and I wish to heaven everyone else had.
