(VIDEO AT LINK)

During an interview with FOX Business, former Rep. Ron Paul explained that he was concerned about the well-being of National Security Agency whistle-blower Edward Snowden.

“I’m worried about somebody in our government might kill him with a cruise missile or a drone missile,” Paul explained. “I mean we live in a bad time where American citizens don’t even have rights and that they can be killed, but the gentlemen is trying to tell the truth about what’s going on.”

Paul added that there were no signs of Snowden defecting to a foreign country, which meant that he was not really a threat.....

if you don’t think obama and his thugs are criminals then you need to think what you are doing on a conservative website .

BuckeyTexan thank you for your thought provoking post. I read the original article about Edward Snowden and watched the interview a few days later. As MontanaJoe acknowledged in an earlier post... nothing was revealed that I and almost every other person in this forum didn't already assume was being done. His “crime” or “treason” according to MontanaJoe was contradicting the statements of officials in the Obama administration that had been questioned recently by congress.

Collecting this “meta-data” on the communications of every American citizen is a horrendous waste of time and resources, because again as MontanaJoe has pointed out in an earlier post... he himself sometimes takes additional steps to ensure the privacy of his own communications. Does he think that our “enemies” are less sophisticated than he is and will not do the same? Does Montanajoe think that Muslim terrorists do not purchase prepaid cell phones using anonymous names or set up free email accounts using false identities or use any number of other techniques that largely gets around this multi-billion dollar boondoggle.

Again... MontanaJoe posted that Edward Snowden didn't reveal anything that he himself didn't already assume was happening and that he himself didn't already take steps to assure his own privacy. Edward Snowden contradicted and embarrassed the Obama administration; he did not reveal the identities of secret contacts or even details that were specific enough that they have compromised any ongoing NSA operation. All he did was confirm what almost everyone has assumed has been going on all along and bring the subject out to where it can be openly debated.

Edward Snowden did this at great personal risk to himself and on behalf of his fellow citizens. There is a very good chance he will either be killed or spend the rest of his life in some secret dungeon. He has sacrificed himself hoping that it will start a debate which would help turn the country from the path that he sees as ever more intrusive and unconstitutional interference in the lives of innocent people. In my book he is a patriot.

We are at war and unfortunately all to many have forgotten the simple fact that our enemies want to kill us all and they applaud all you useful idiots who are aiding in that goal

It's not our enemies they are spying on, they are spying on "their" enemies.

If Snowden was really acting in the interests of the Republic why is he on the run? I still fail to see the difference between Snowden and Manning. Leaking secrets is leaking secrets.

Snowden is in Hong Kong because one doesn’t go up against the intelligence agencies of a world superpower and then stay within their jurisdiction.

He broke the law by revealing classified information to the media instead of seeking whistleblower status. That makes him a criminal under U.S. law. However, one can understand why he might not trust the government to protect him as a whistleblower. He chose to present his case to We The People. I for one am listening and hear him out.

Did you not see the video of NSA operatives saying that Snowden should be disappeared? One doesn’t punch a bully in the nose and then stay in arm’s reach. Surely you can understand that, right?

One difference is that Manning haphazardly exposed our people and foreign contacts, blew their covers and put them at risk. Some of of those have most likely already been killed or imprisoned. Who has Snowden put at risk outside of those persons working for the Obama administration who have been lying to congress? And what happens to people who lie to congress and the public in the Obama administration... they are promoted due to their loyalty.

He took his case straight to the people - a jury of his peers so-to-speak.

If David was anointed King of Israel, why did he run when he thought King Saul was going to kill him?

Had no clue our Crazy Uncle is still with us. I thought the sheikh would be getting his 72 virgins by now.

(Yeah, I still think Ron Paul is a gasbag fraud.)

Sounds like kool-aid talk to me. If he went public on US soil, do you really think the NSA would be him in? That’s a bit too cloak and dagger for me.

So the only thing Snowden blew was the fact that the NSA was conducting wide sweeps of US records, but nothing that put specific people in harm?
