Mayor Jean Stothert is dedicated to making Omaha city government more efficient and customer service oriented.
Her priorities include improving public safety and reducing crime, enacting policies that help attract new businesses and create jobs in Omaha, and restoring the public’s confidence in city government.
Mayor Stothert is also committed to smarter budgeting by eliminating waste and finding efficiencies, as well as keeping taxes low for Omaha families and businesses.
Demonstrating her commitment to fiscal discipline and leading by example, Mayor Stothert has cut the mayor’s personnel budget and her own salary by 10 percent.
A graduate of Seattle Pacific University, Stothert began her career in nursing. Her 12 years of experience as a critical care nurse and nursing manager included serving as head nurse and department head of Cardiovascular Surgery at St. Louis University.
Stothert was appointed to the Millard School Board in 1997, elected and re-elected for three terms, including three years as president of the board. In 2009, Stothert was elected to the Omaha City Council.
On May 14, 2013, Stothert was elected the 51st Mayor of Omaha, and the first woman to serve as the city’s chief executive.
Mayor Stothert lives in Omaha with Joe, her husband of 33 years. They have two grown children, Elizabeth and Andrew

I pray this man wins the Lt. Governor race in Virginia, and then runs for the Presidency in 2016. He would have my vote in a heartbeat.
Any city that agrees to build TWO brand new baseball stadiums still has some serious issues.

UHH THAT was “Mayor Mike Fahey(YET ANOTHER CRIMINAL DEMOCRAT)” that “Built” ONE new Ball Park(Ameritrade Park)(There was NOTHING Wrong w/ Rosenblatt)and Warner Park was built WITH NO Omaha funding(It was built in Sarpy County(Omaha is in Douglas County)) The ONLY thing Suttle has with his name on it is the Resturant Tax(Idiot).

Exactly right! My BFF lives in Omaha and she and her husband are jumping for joy that the entrenched, entitled union establishment is gone! Corrupt isn’t a strong enough word for what was going on in Omaha.
1st rule of politicians: All politicians are scoundrels until proven otherwise. After such proof, they must make monthly installments demonstrating their integrity or they automatically go back to scoundrel status.
I have been saying it for years: Neutralize the unions and you pull a leg from under the stool of the Democrat party.
