OAK RIDGE — Small bottles of brightly colored fingernail polish are lined up neatly on Marcel Neergaard’s dresser in his room, the décor of which he describes as having a “disco dancey feeling to it.”
Posters of young male celebrities — Justin Bieber among them — are on the walls.
Marcel uses eyeliner on occasion and puts on the nail polish “when he wants to feel special,” says his father, Mike Neergaard.
Marcel is 11 years old and gay.

STOP RIGHT HERE. You can't be gay at 11. If this 11 year old is having sex of any kind, someone needs to go to jail.
If he hasn't had homosex, he can't be gay. The sexual act is what defines you as gay. You can't be “born this way”.

Parents of this mental case should not be in charge—this kid needs therapy, now, not later. Child abuse comes from neglecting both the physical and mental illnesses of kids.

His feelings are totally unnatural and nature is starting to ‘take care of’ the problem. Other boys at school are beating him up because they have registered that, as a male, he is defective. No, it’s not nice and they shouldn’t be violent to him. They’re actions are due to their age and lack of maturity. More maturity would allow them to hold off on their natural urge to toss this defective baby bird out of the nest. Although kids can be mean little b*st*rds they are also not yet steeped in postmodern gobbledegook. They see your son’s gayness and willingness to openly express it as a threat to the species. Even if they can’t say why or how.
You, sir, are a failure as a father. Your 11-year-old son needs you and instead you slap him on the back and say, “Good job, boy!” Your boy is crying out to you for help! Your boy terribly confused about what it means to be a man. And, apparently, so are you.

That leftist attitude, of being at war with the status quo and traditional American culture, dates back through the riots and terrorism of the sixties, through the FDR years and even to the leftist labor riots of the 1800's.
Today it seems only conservatives have an understanding of the true natuure of the struggle and we get ridiculed in the press for our efforts.

Obviously you never heard of Jerry Clower and “Marcel Ledbetter” He was a great comedian best known for his stories of the rural South. He was often nicknamed “The Mouth of Mississippi”.
Regardless of what some people believe... there are kids that are born this way. And... they are also born to conservative republicans... we have close family friends who have a gay adult son. Although he didn’t come out till much later, I figured out he was gay by the time he was nine.
In fact, I recall my husband thought it was awful that I shared this with him.
No one molested him, his parents are happily married.. he just happens to be gay. Is this an anomaly and defect? Of course... and we also have kids born with other disabilities in this country, and no one would ever posit that they should be ridiculed.

I was thinking of my one daughter - a tom boy when she was younger. But then going into High School she started wearing girl’s clothing rather than her older brother’s basketball shorts and T-shirts to school. That is pretty common I think with girl’s - so I wonder if it sometimes happens with boys too? Although I can’t say we encouraged her boyish attire, but realized we couldn’t force her to wear the nice clothes that she had.
