As long as the Dems hold the Senate, this is utterly meaningless.
“Obviously there should be some oversight by the Congress on these kinds of purchases and they should hold the Executive Branch accountable. After all, thats why there is a balance of powers.”
Members of Congress long ago figured out the best way to secure their place at the public trough was to talk a good game, be on camera as much as possible, and do nothing.
Congress has long ago vacated their responsibilities for keeping the executive branch in check.
Yeah, sufficient ammo to put three or four shots through the head of every single American citizen is probably enough at this point.
Here’s a possible solution:
Get shooters to boycott firms doing business with the government. The government cannot force firms to sell to them. This could happen incrementally: first boycott Remington and Federal for 6 months, then incrementally add the others.
In the mean time, pressure Congress to cut military costs.
One small step.....
DHS sounds like my wife: “save” money by purchasing MORE than we need, so as to get a discount.
I thought the ammo thing was kind silly rightup until about 10 days ago
Given what we now know, what was previously tinfoil hat conspiracy stuff now seems like a proven conspiracy with gun control and arming of the DHS with the intent of using anti terror laws against dis armed political opposition by reclassifying them as domestic terrorists as the plan
They are buying them to use against the Tea Party and those who are aligned with them.
Janet’s got an ammo hoarding problem. We can certainly understand, with the difference being—we buy ours with our own money and we shot it, before she created the problem.
Lip service
Clearly, John Carter is another effin idiot “on our side”.
Don’t sweat it. For every 20 billion rounds of ammo they buy, panicky American gun owners buy 100 billion.
It is suggested:
Trust the governmentAnd I say, WHY? The biggest massacre of school children didnt happen back in CT. It happened in 1893(1890) in a place called Wounded Knee where hundreds of Native American children, women, a few men, were massacred by...the government.
The Japanese who were interned by executive order by FDR and were interned by . . .the government.
In a little town in Texas, back in the 90s, called Waco, I think some 70 something children were killed there, by . . .the government.
Now we fast forward to the year 2013 when we have the attorney general of the US, the CIA person, telling me its ok to kill Americans on American soil in this country, with drone strikes, [by government decree].
Thats scary.
And anybody who isnt scared by that is out of their mind.
We have a Homeland [Security] Dept., a Social Security Dept., the IRS and every [government] dept. buying millions of rounds of hollow point ammunition. I believe its up to eight for every living American now.
That scares me.
Homeland [Security] Dept. just purchased 10,000 AR 15s. Well, they dont guard the borders. What are they doing?
That scares me.
And thats the government. [snip]
They just bought 3,000 armored vehicles. Theyre not on the borders. What are they preparing for?
And youre worried about me, owning my weapons -that Ive never used illegally? That Im a law abiding [citizen], that I have all my permits and everything?
Why arent you worried about the government?
Your greatest fear should be from them and not from any person in this room or a law abiding citizen. And God, if you cant see that, I dont know what youre doing.
