Woman had BAC of 0.27, police say. A Janesville school teacher was drunk while supervising students on a field trip Thursday, according to a report from the Janesville Police Department.
The report states the teacher, Maria Caya, 50, was taken to Mercy Hospital by her husband after passing out on a field trip to a bowling alley.
Caya is a fourth-grade teacher at Washington Elementary School.
The police report states Caya had a blood-alcohol level of 0.27 at noon on Thursday. She admitted to hospital staff she was drinking at 6 a.m. before supervising on the field trip.

Alcoholism can lead to illusions such as the idea that one can get soused to 0.27 BAC and still function as a teacher!

Janesville is within the ambit of the leftist ideology emanating from Madison, about 40 miles away. So, instead of being fired, which would be a perfectly reasonable thing to do, she will be directed tot he Employee Assistance Program, given leave with pay, and treated henceforth as handicapped.

If I were tasked with taking a bunch of fourth-graders to a bowling alley, I’m not so sure that I wouldn’t have taken a shot beforehand myself. :=) (Though certainly not enough to blow a .27)

She was obviously trying to emulate the town’s father, the Man They Call Jayne.
She just couldn’t handle her Mudder’s Milk. . . (grin)

Alcoholism can lead to illusions such as the idea that one can get soused to 0.27 BAC and still function as a teacher! Being a union teacher can lead to such realities as getting soused to .27 BAC while blithely retaining one's job!

blood-alcohol level of 0.27 at noon on Thursday. She admitted to hospital staff she was drinking at 6 a.m.Each drink raises your BAC by .02 and your body burns off .02 per hour.
So after six hours she burned off .12 which means her BAC was .39 at one time. That's almost 20 drinks ... before she got to school.
Or maybe she was drinking something like ...

So sad that unions are in such solidarity with insanity today. God and truth (which are really synonymous) are forgotten today. All is worship of self.

I had a great history teacher for Jr. and Sr. year. He also did the debate team which I was on with 3 of my buddies. Never won, but we joined mainly for the road trips!
The teacher would have his own motel room and us guys in the other. We would hear his TV blaring with some movie (TORA TORA TORA I remember once vividly - VERY loud). And he would be a bit groggy in the mornings.
Sr. year he took off for 6 weeks for a treatment center and go sober finally. He said now that he was sober he would keep a cleaner desk, grade our papers in a more timely fashion, etc. Never happened though!

Well I woke up Sunday morning with no way to hold my head that didn’t hurt
And the beer I had for breakfast wasn’t bad so I had one more for desert
Then I fumbled through my closet for my clothes and found my cleanest dirty shirt
Only in her case it was Thursday Morning Coming Down...

I had a stage craft, theater and typing instructor that taught the boys a lot more than acting or typing......
Today she would be arrested. Back in the 70’s her classes
just drew a line.
