I think he outed himself in hopes to live another day. It is more difficult to off him or to target his family if he is known.

Perhaps, but I find the information more reliable now that I know who released it. I also believe him when he says system administrators see far more than a typical employee. A system administrator is privy to the most sensitive internal workings and traffic on a network.
I think the government would have had an easier time letting this blow over if the whistleblower wasn’t known. “Government sources” doesn’t carry as much weight as “Edward Snowden, NSA system administrator.”
So you think that preferring to have the courage to come out with this publically, knowing he’s signing his own death warrant, is ‘looking for his 15 minutes of fame ‘?

The WaPo was in contact with the Feds. He wouldn’t have been anonymous long in this environment.
He outed himself to protect himself from being rendered or “disappeared” by the CIA. The guy lives in constant fear.
Last I checked Snowden’s revelations haven’t resulted in any deaths. When OweBowMao and Plugs leaked info about the bin Laden raid it resulted in a CIA agent getting killed. And then there was that plane crash that resulted in over a dozen Seals getting killed.
Not to mention letting an ambassador and 3 other Americans get killed in Benghazi.
Just because it’s a law doesn’t make it Constitutional. Rand Paul wants the Supremes to review the Patriot Act.

Given the data the DOJ, NSA and FBI are mining and collecting, I doubt that would play in today’s world.
That's one view. Another is that he knew he would be discovered and is trying to avoid being disappeared.
If what he says is true, there is NO WAY he could stay anonymous.
If he tried to stay anonymous, his ass would be on a rendition plane the same day.
The only way guys like him can stay alive is by staying as public as possible.
IMHO he outed himself to extend his life expectancy..........

I think he outed himself so he would not be killed.
I don't agree. He has given up much more than he could receive doing this. He has sacrificed his future to get this out. I applaud him.
