The individual responsible for one of the most significant leaks in US political history is Edward Snowden, a 29-year-old former technical assistant for the CIA and current employee of the defence contractor Booz Allen Hamilton. Snowden has been working at the National Security Agency for the last four years as an employee of various outside contractors, including Booz Allen and Dell.
The Guardian, after several days of interviews, is revealing his identity at his request. From the moment he decided to disclose numerous top-secret documents to the public, he was determined not to opt for the protection of anonymity. "I have no intention of hiding who I am because I know I have done nothing wrong," he said.
Snowden will go down in history as one of America's most consequential whistleblowers, alongside Daniel Ellsberg and Bradley Manning. He is responsible for handing over material from one of the world's most secretive organisations the NSA.
In a note accompanying the first set of documents he provided, he wrote: "I understand that I will be made to suffer for my actions," but "I will be satisfied if the federation of secret law, unequal pardon and irresistible executive powers that rule the world that I love are revealed even for an instant."

I love that the Brits outted this. It makes the US MSM look all the more complicit and incompetent.
I thought it was hooey last night when I saw the admin is having a briefing of all lawmakers.
BUT I am not so sure now. This guy has drawn attention to a monster of a problem. Americans will not stand for the government spying on them for no reason. Spying on foreigners is one thing. But on everyone? I don’t think so. That is why it was kept secret. Now frog march the ones who knew out of the country. Drop them in Benghazi and tell em to call for help if something goes wrong.
Ain’t it ironic that The Guardian is the newspaper the reporter in The Bourne Ultimatum worked for. The one the CIA snuffed.
We have been promised oversight and there is none. The FISA court is a fraud. Everybody inside the beltway is in CYA mode because they are complicit in the fraud.
“Juicy tidbit or nothingburger? Blogger overhears intel officials saying NSA leaker should be disappeared” http://twitchy.com/2013/06/08/juicy-tidbit-or-nothingburger-blogger-overhears-intel-officials-saying-nsa-leaker-should-be-disappeared/
The next question would be who have been beneficiaries of the fraud...
We could ask the assistant coroner about Breitbart...oh wait
Five dollar wager that the drones are already circling his hotel.
#NSACalledToTellMe There is no Snowden. There never was...
Hope he beefs up his personal security. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING would surprise me with this bunch of thugs in charge.
$10 wager that he's nowhere near Hong Kong right now.
Therefor, this may not be his only data dump, and if anything happens to him he has plans in place to release the remainder..
So Obama says they will go after the leaker and he comes out and outs himself.... I wonder if he plays chess, :-)....
I also wonder if he has sent any data to Beck / the Blaze?
From the interview:
Q: Washington-based foreign affairs analyst Steve Clemons said he overheard at the capital's Dulles airport four men discussing an intelligence conference they had just attended. Speaking about the leaks, one of them said, according to Clemons, that both the reporter and leaker should be "disappeared". How do you feel about that?A: "Someone responding to the story said 'real spies do not speak like that'. Well, I am a spy and that is how they talk. Whenever we had a debate in the office on how to handle crimes, they do not defend due process they defend decisive action. They say it is better to kick someone out of a plane than let these people have a day in court. It is an authoritarian mindset in general."
They did target .
they have been collecting information on anybody associted with any Republican campaign for the last 4 years. This NSA scandal is the dirtiest thing ever done by a political opponent in US history. The dots need to be conected back to the WH.
They listened and spied in their opponents in the house and senate.
Seems that Holder when asked by Senator Kirk had a great response.
Can you assure us no members of the Capitol building were monitored? asked Kirk. When Holder said he wouldnt be able to answer that question in an open forum, Kirk interrupted him. I think the correct answer is we stayed within our lane and we did not spy on members of Congress.
A very Obamaesque view of terrorism.
But he’s probably right: if you have a tip about a terrorist, skip the fed and tell the police where the crime is about to be committed.
They’re incentivized to prevent terror and crime. The current admin is NOT.
Hey, found this:
Whatever else one wants to say, it is indisputably true that Ron Paul is the only political figure with any sort of a national platform certainly the only major presidential candidate in either party who advocates policy views on issues that liberals and progressives have long flamboyantly claimed are both compelling and crucial. The converse is equally true: the candidate supported by liberals and progressives and for whom most will vote Barack Obama advocates views on these issues (indeed, has taken action on these issues) that liberals and progressives have long claimed to find repellent, even evil.

I found the link on a wildly left site, they were ranting that Greenwald was a POS from the ‘left’ for thinking anything good about Ron Paul. They were having fits over leftist that have been taken in by Paul.
Snowden seems to respect Greenwald.
I’m looking forward to the International reaction to this. I suppose most Western country governments knew about it — but their people DIDN’T. Think of the ramifications and protests that may start soon.
He said he voted third party. He probably voted Libertarian. He also said he had high hopes for Obama to end the policies of his predecessor, so that says something about his politics.
Still, doing this is very brave. He is fully aware of how much danger he is in.
This guy came forward because Obama did not reject the policies originally adopted by Bush post-9/11. In other words, Obama is not far enough left for him.
