More than a dozen male employees working for the Roslagsbanan train services in the Swedish capital have been wearing skirts in order to keep cool.
One of the drivers, Martin Åkersten, explained that temperatures can hit 95F (35C) in the train cab during the summer.
Uniform regulations by the train company Arriva state that skirts or long trousers are acceptable. At a meeting last year, drivers were told that shorts were not allowed.
They have given their blessing to the men wearing skirts however.
"To say anything else would be discrimination," Thomas Hedenius, the communications head, told the local Mitti newspaper, cited by the Local website.

Sounds perfectly logical to me ... /s
I suggest a kilt.
Are those kilts, or that arab sort of thing? Given it’s Sweden, I have a hunch...
Somehow, I don’t think these guys would last very long in Texas.
In the face of such stupidity from their management, I couldn’t blame the guys if they bought a nice Utilikilt.
I always thought them silly, but in a case like this, maybe not.
Somehow, I don’t think shorts are outlawed in Texas.
At least it isn’t the plumbers........
Shorts are out so I suggest mini skirts!
I bought my husband a Utilikilt to wear when he’s working in the barns on really hot days.
That was two years ago. He has yet to wear it.
Nor is air conditioning.
Given that Sweden’s usual average high temperature during the summer is 68°F, it doesn’t surprise me that none of the Roslagsbanan trains don’t have AC, or at least sufficiently powerful AC to combat temps as high as claimed here.
Arriva Sverige has only been running things on the Stockholm narrow-gauge RR since January of this year. Something tells me that things are either going to be shaken up dramatically or they’re going to be out.

Something that someone notices in California at halloween, is that young men dressing up as women is so popular, that it is clear that it is more than just a costume.
Halloween?? More like all year long.
In Texas the train and the train cab would be air conditioned.
Down here in the Florida Keys, just about every male wears shorts almost everywhere. Weddings and funerals excepted.
Scandinavia is so “green” that even desktop ice cube makers are banned in Norway.
Sweden is more likely to go with a dishdasha with the train logo on...
I saw a *huge* dude in a convenience store wearing one.
I thought it was the coolest thing ever.
None of the local yokels sneered at him, either.
[guy wore that kilt like a boss..and yeah, I ogled]
;D
Mini skirted engineers driving trains could only happen under socialism.
