Calif. serial killer Richard Ramirez dies

California corrections officials say convicted serial killer Richard Ramirez, known as the Night Stalker, has died in prison.

San Quentin State Prison spokesman Lt. Sam Robinson says Ramirez died Friday morning.

Ramirez was convicted of 13 murders that terrorized Southern California in 1984 and '85, and sentenced to death.

Satanic symbols were left at murder scenes and some victims were forced to "swear to Satan" by the killer, who entered homes through unlocked windows and doors.

Ramirez was captured and beaten in 1985 by residents of an East Los Angeles neighborhood while attempting a carjacking.

I remember when he invaded the home in Mission Viejo, raped the female and permanently injured the male. The next day True Outdoorsman’s firearms inventory was depleted.

I seem to remember hearing a few years ago, I may have him wrong, but I believe he may have had Hepatitis C and needed a transplant and the prison officials were considering placing him on the transplant list.

Not to mention the slimeball trial lawyers who have made a fortune of taxpayer dollars appealing and delaying his execution.

All this came to a halt when the CA voters elected Camila Harris the militant anti-death penalty activist as attorney general in 2010. The appeals ended but not the lawyers' money; they are on retainer. I wonder when and if the gravy train ends for them. They probably will agrue that they need to continue to appeal even after he is dead to settle profound constitutional issues.

Doesn't seem like the death penalty in CA is much of a deterrent.

Texas is very active in putting criminals to death and yet people there still commit murder, don't they?

If you compare the murder rates of California and Texas you'd find that the two are comparable.

So, the conclusion to draw here is that the death penalty isn't a deterrent, period.

Ramirez, 53, had been taken from San Quentin's death row to a hospital where authorities said he died of liver failure.

Yes. It was something about a shoe print found at one scene and that the cops knew what brand of shoe it was.

That moron Feinstein aka “Turn them all in in Mr/Mrs public”
had a press conference and showed the type of shoe he was wearing at his crime scenes as well as the make and caliber of the weapon used. Ricky was in the Bay area at the time. Ramirez was watching the TV as well as everyone else. It didn't take long for the shoes and gun to go over the GG bridge.

I was sitting on a Grand Jury at the time and we heard one of his murders and burglaries. The indictments were sealed and we were sworn to secrecy but that eventually became moot when they were unsealed and Ramirez went to trial and was convicted. What we heard was horrendous and hard to believe. He was Satan incarnate. As much as I disliked jury duty we were all proud to help send that monster on his way to hell. To bad he went from “natural causes”. I hope it was slow and painful.

I remember his reign of terror and sleeping with a loaded 12GA and a flashlight next to the bed.
