Six national vet groups are among a list of the top 50 worst charities in the U.S., according to The Tampa Bay Times.
The Tampa Bay Times compiled the rankings for an investigative reporting project published on Thursday. The charities were put on the list because only a small portion of their donations were used toward those in need. Charities provided as little as 2 percent back to the earnings they collected in some cases.
The vast majority of the roughly $1 billion contributed by Americans went to the corporations in the business of making the phone calls and collecting donations.

I fell for the crying relatives, which I usually don’t. WWP
won’t get another dime from me! I like the Fisher House
and the Gary Sinise Foundation.
Thanks for the link.
It really is a good one to give to, headstamp2. I have seen the state of the art Fisher House at the Charlie Norwood VAMC and it is fantastic! The hospitalized veterans and active duty are so grateful to have their loved ones close and it does help the healing process.
Because “Family love is good medicine”.
re: never contribute to those very compelling calls you get from supposed police and fireman funds.
Aside from most of these being scams, the fact is, in my community, the firemen and police have incredibly strong unions, and most of these employees are making big bucks in excess of over $100,000 a year. They can afford to pay for their own parties.
They talk other people into giving things like mobile chairs then claim credit for giving them to vets.
Thanks Robert
We have some great volunteers.
AND 97 cents of every dollar goes to our wounded, ill and injured

WWP
I started with what you linked then went directly to WWP financial statement, which I have cut and pasted.
We contributed from the beginning when they were giving out backpacks at the hospital and now contribute $19/mo. I’m statisfied they don’t abuse the public who donate.
WWP is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida. WWP’s federal ID number for donations is 20-2370934. View IRS Determination Letter.
Before I contribute my hard earned money to any organization I check them out. The Wounded Warrior’s outfit is a scam. Thanks for your input.
