With all due respect, Senator, I dont think this is an appropriate setting for me to discuss [this issue], Holder replied during a Senate Appropriations Subcommittee hearing when Sen. Mark Kirk, R-Ill., asked if the executive branch was conducting surveillance that would give unique leverage over lawmakers.
Kirk replied that the correct answer would be no, we stayed within our lane, and we did not spy on Members of Congress.
Holder assured Kirk that there is no intention to do anything of that nature that is, to spy on Members of Congress or to spy on the Supreme Court.

After news of PRISM came out, I wonder if Kirk was used to help Obama and Congress by saying “See, we’re spied on too!”
The question was about the phone metadata, not PRISM. The fact that these scandals are now coming out more than once a week is unnerving.
I doubt it seriously.
I can tell you that Congress doesn’t want to be spied on, and that’s a bipartisan view.
The WH thinks Congress is a bunch of whining babies, including the members in the majority with the WH. This is timeless. All Presidents have felt that way, including Johnson, who was King of Congress for a lot of years. Master of intimidation.

Even the dems, and the press, will acquiesce.
I can’t believe the amount of smoke there is. Only McDermott would have the temerity to claim, ‘there is no fire’.
Good point.
“J. Edgar” would have cut the 0’s nuts off in the scrotum. He spent his life chasing traitors.
Subpoena Justice Roberts!
There is no political solution to this. Not when the enemy has the goods on everyone.
