After this the Brits may not only spring Julian Assange, they may offer him a formal apology.

NBC's Pete Williams: Justice Dept will likely launch investigation against Guardian re NSA story on seizure of Americans phone records. Ellie Hall So? The Just US dept. can investigate all it wants. The most it can do is what? Close down the Guardian's office in NY?
I can see Cameron saying to Eric "the red" Holder, go bugger yourself.

Politically
The Guardian is the British equivalent of the
New York Times, only rather more hard left, anti-American and anti-Israel. Only in Britain the papers are both a lot more honest about their political biases, and paradoxically more willing to lay them aside in pursuit of a good story. The conservative (by British standards)
Telegraph just helped expose Tory bribe taking in the House of Lords. Can you imagine the
New York TImes not only honestly reporting about the corruption of a Democrat Senator, but running a sting to get him on video discussing the services he can offer for bribes?
Me neither.

Add to that the irony of the fact that Bush was able to deflect a lot of this attention by claiming that the surveillance was essential to conducting the Global War on Terror.
Obama, on the other hand, just gave a speech declaring that the GWOT is over. DOH!!
To: Perdogg
Heh...the Guardian is British-based. Good luck prosecuting them.

The question which comes to my mind is why only Verizon? Are they doing the same thing to Sprint, AT&T and all the others too?

Obama, on the other hand, just gave a speech declaring that the GWOT is over. DOH!!Actually, Obama is correct. The war on terror IS over.
The administration are now the terrorists. Hard to have a war on yourself.
Y'see.

Obama, on the other hand, just gave a speech declaring that the GWOT is over. DOH!!Plus, Bush didn't have any terror attacks on his watch since 9-11, whereas 0bama has had 7 (or more) terror attacks on his watch.

LOL Elizabeth Hasselback questioned why we had to find out this info via the Brits and made mention of the IRS and AP scandals and obama butt kisser Barbara Walters immediately rose to the administrations defense.

They’ll simply block U.S. citizens from accessing them on the internet, and any other foreign media as well, which is exactly what they want.

Of course they are; I can’t imagine otherwise. That revelation hasn’t been leaked yet. What would be point of monitoring only one carrier? In that unlikely scenario, the American people could then use AT&T without being monitored.
