And now we have our first named storm of the season, Andrea...
TS Andrea gained strength over the course of the day, becoming more organized; however the computer models form a consensus that the storm is not likely to reach Category 1 strength prior to landfall.
Andrea is projected to make landfall along the Florida coast between Crystal River to Apalachicola, with the Big Bend area most likely target.
Gulf Coast Florida is currently under a Tropical Storm Warning until 8PM Friday, from Boca Grande to Ochlocknee river. The southeast US coast is under a Tropical Storm Watch during the same period, north from Flagler Beach.
Tampa Bay to Apalachicola can expect a storm surge up to 4 feet. Andrea is expected to produce total rain accumulations of 3"-6" over much of Florida, the Panhandle, and southeastern Georgia, with isolated amounts of 8" possible.
Tropical storm conditions are expected to first reach the coast within the warning area by Thursday afternoon, making outside preparations difficult or dangerous. Isolated tornadoes are possible over the Florida Peninsula late tonight through Thursday.
I will provide updates as they are posted.
A tornado hit The Acreage in Palm Beach County at 6:45 am EDT, injuring one person, damaging homes, and downing trees and power lines. Two other tornadoes were reported on Florida’s east coast, one in Broward County, and one in Palm Beach County. Andrea also spawned two tornadoes southeast of Tampa Bay between 2:30 am and 4 am EDT Thursday, but damage was minor. Most of South and Central Florida are under a tornado watch today.

The Bride is coming back early today. She is NOT about to get caught outdoors or on the roads in this slop.
We’ve gone under Tornado Warning again, until 1:30 EDT. That makes nine according to State EOC.
Yes ... I remember hearing a local news guy in Oklahoma City telling people to shelter OR get in their cars and go. My instant reaction was, “what, are you crazy???” That was the night those storm chasers lost their life. Staying off the roads is the wise move. Prayers up for Florida today.
Trying to figure this storm out. Here in SC, had bad weather and pouring rain all day yesterday from it. Today’s weather has been fair with little rain. I know it’s supposed to rain later but was expecting today’s rain to be worse as the storm gets closer. It’s not.
Right on cue libs are claiming global warming caused it.
Oh, even better than the Glo-bull Warming crowd: the HAARP-seals!
I just got two of them banned on another website for throwing so much tinfoil in the air it turned into chaff!
I love hunting trolls!
Thank God we have a steady Team* at the White House to help us through this George-Bush-Caused-Disaster in which women, children, and minority groups will be hardest hit, not to mention the LGBT Community who will suffer most cruelly.
*Ayuh, let's see now, we got Reggie. We got Valerie. WTF could go wrong?
