Three killed Sunday after three were killed Saturday. One of the wounded includes an 11-year-old girl who will never walk again.

Violence surged like the mercury Sunday, with three more fatalities from gun violence — and eight others wounded in shootings — bringing the total number of bullet-riddled in the city to 25 in less than 48 hours.

Houston has a higher murder rate (9.97 per 100,000) than New York (5.05), and a higher overall crime rate too (992.53 vs. 639.29). Not that New York’s fascist gun control laws have anything to do with it, but NYC is now one of the safer big cities in the country (and world).

Those cities may have the largest number of murders, but that's not a relevant comparison. New York City has ~8.5 million people, more than double the next-largest city (LA, with ~3.9 million), so of course the total number of murders will be higher here.

The relevant comparison is the per capita rate of murders.

I’m not saying they weren’t gun murders. My point is that comparing the raw number of murders is meaningless. The relevant comparison is the per capita murder rate.

actually MY original point was not about murders but the violent use of guns in cities with supposedly strict gun laws
and my point stands

Murder or not, you are simply wrong that the violent use of guns is higher in New York than in other cities. Again, while there may be more incidents in New York than elsewhere, that comparison is meaningless, as New York has more than twice the population of any other US city. The more relevant comparison is the per capita RATE of violent use of guns, which is actually quite low in NYC, as compared with other cities.

I guess you missed when I corrected myself
“After further review NYC was NOT in the top
of course now they are”

and the point, ONE MORE TIME , is not about murders it is about leftists thinking stricter gun laws prevent or even cut down on the use of guns by criminals

If you don’t get that then just move on, I can’t explain it any further to you

Don’t bother Bloomie with this, he’s more worried about how many Big Gulps are out there.

Mr. Nanny should worry about his own backyard instead of foisting his agenda on the rest of the country.

For those of us who grew up in NYC in the 70’s, multiple shootings with a 48 hour period was a common event.

I left the Bronx in 1995, and this might surprise folks, but these gun laws are obeyed about as much as jaywalking.

I’ve seen some arsenals throughout the city that would make a Texan proud.

We protected ourselves quite well during the Koch, and Dinkins years.

Forbes did an article in 2012 that ranked cities by violent crimes per capita.

First Place: Detroit MI
Second Place: Saint Louis MO
Third Place: Oakland CA

This is what happens when the Mayor doesn't have the cops back.

No NYC cop from Long Island is going to risk taking down a bad guy who is obviously carrying for that freakazoid in Gracie Mansion.

Guns are not a problem in NYC anymore. There is virtually no chance that any law-abiding New Yorker will be able to use a firearm to defend himself. No criminals or gangbangers will risk being shot by law-abiding NYC residents or visitors, and they may now work in safety.

After all, it is not like these laws were passed to disarm criminals. Everybody knows that they don’t obey the law.
