but new Orleans is in the top 5 not sure about their gun laws although I suspect they don’t have many Nonsense. Those cities may have the largest number of murders, but that's not a relevant comparison. New York City has ~8.5 million people, more than double the next-largest city (LA, with ~3.9 million), so of course the total number of murders will be higher here.
The relevant comparison is the per capita rate of murders.
