Rand Paul is the latest Republican to tell his party to open up to a wider range of views within its ranks.
"The party can be big enough to allow people who don't all agree on every issue," Senator Paul told an audience in California, a state that produced three Republican presidents in the 20th century but now votes reliably Democratic.
"When the Republican Party looks like the rest of America, we'll win again," he said.
"It's not going to change who I am or what I talk about but I think we can be a big enough party to include people," Paul said at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif., Friday evening.
In his Friday talk, Paul sought to define himself, among other things, as a Republican who cares about the environment.

We will win when white women vote with their men. Not a moment before.
When the GOP stops pissing off its base, it will win.
There is no GOP base now. The beltway GOP tossed it overboard and are trolling for a new base among the American Idol crowd. That is the whole reason to redefine what is conservative. It’s all straight out of the leftist word game playbook.
I personally like Dr. Ben Carson’s approach of focusing on facts. (He is the famous surgeon who spoke at the Prayer Breakfast, outline what should be done to help the country)
Dr. Ben Carson (for president?) makes stop at conservative event in Wisconsin
Quick get a bunch of unwed mothers.
If you are basing your ideas on how people “look” and not on principles, then you have already lost.
An observation that George Wallace made over 50 years ago.
Not a dimes worth of difference.
Senator Ted Cruz is unfortunately a false and untrustworthy leader who makes the right sounds andd then proceeds to violate the core principles of the Constitution like those he criticizes. In his recent interview he acknowledged that he is interested in being a future candidate for president of the United States despite the fact he was born in Canada. Since he chooses to not honor the Constitution’s denial of eligibility to persons who were born with or adopted a foreign citize4nship exclusive of or concurrent with a right to claim U.S. citizenship, voters must ask what other conservative principles this person will fail to honor when it suits his purpose?
The “rest of Ameica”, I am sad to say, is not a place where traditional values and and a moral context to politics prevails. Giving up those virtues for political gain is a poor foundation for governance. I suspect we will continue to see a decline in the Republican national party, its survival for a while at the state level, and then the rise of a third party when it becomes evident to the “rest of America” that governmental and economic stability demands much more that relativism disguised as freedom.
Ah yes, another rino shooting his mouth off.....rand needs to change parties and take rubio and christie with him.
Then Christian churches need to stop teaching feminism.
Please explain.
By the way, "social" issues involve things like where you going to go out to dinner, or who you're going to invite to your party.
I'm pretty sure that you're referring to what are actually MORAL and CONSTITUTIONAL issues.
He is very vague. Does he mean the homos, wacko enviornment peeps, global warming freaks, gay scouts, etc?
If so, count me out. Romney was my LAST vote for the lesser of 2 evils.
Once, shame on you, twice, shame on me.
I don’t take kindly to shame, lol.
Runt Paul is a Liberaltarian moron just like his old man.
If by church you mean the flat screen in the living room then you are 100% on point.
So ideology isn’t what matters it is race that matters except and unless you are white then it is ideology and about how we MUST diversify. God I loath politicians.
It will also be the reason why we will not be able to win a national election.
They CANNOT win without the base. We know that, they know that; therefore, they are trying to “change” us.
Good luck with that.
The Big Government republicans (who bear much of the responsibility for the destruction of the nation) will never voluntarily agree to sharing power with conservatives.
Old line republicans hate conservatives more than they hate democrats and other socialists and communists.
Democrats still allow republicans to suck at the public trough now and then.
Conservatives want to drain the trough, burn it and outlaw it forever.
Care to be more specific?
Whether GOP politicians play strictly to the conservative base
or play the liberal-lite game it matters little if our opponents
in the MSM and the Democrat party are able to define us in
the eyes of the masses. We are screwed unless we can secure
some semblence of parity and soon.
