From the idea that our universe is one among many, to the revelation that mathematician Pythagoras didn't actually invent the Pythagorean theorem, here are eight shocking things we learned from reading physicist Stephen Hawking's new book, "The Grand Design," written with fellow physicist Leonard Mlodinow of Caltech.
The book, covering major questions about the nature and origin of the universe, was released Sept. 7, 2010, by its publisher, Bantam.

Well, if you believe in the Word, this is silly, because Jesus said if you know Him you know the Father, and that’s reality. Now, since Hawking doesn’t believe in Him, I think it’s safe to say HIS view is distorted.

There is one universe. Any scientist who says otherwise is not a true scientist.

Hawking is a Politically Correct scientist who after 50 years will be known for ........contributing nothing. perfect for our times.

I’d say he’s been watching way too many reruns of the Twilight Zone.

Your statement saying that since Hawking dos not believe in God, ergo everything he says is distorted is a perfect example of the fallacious argument. It makes no sense and proves, validates nothing, Because they are two totally disconnected statements. where one does not logically necessarily follow the other.It’s a classic fallacy in logic.
You can have every church filled to he rafters singing God’s praises and will mean nothing in making that determinaion that Go exists.

Interesting how Hawking admits that a conscious observer is necessary for something to exist, but he is completely uninterested in what consciousness is.
Seems to me that since a conscious observer is a fundamental aspect of quantum physics, he'd be a little curious about it.
I wonder why that is?

hawking is a celebrity in the Physics world... much as Paris Hilton is a celebrity in hollyweird. I am also convinced and have been for years... that old stephen here likes to smoke Lebanese or Afghan hashish. He is also a GODless creature.

Item #4 Is the notion that we live in a Universe in which our view is distorted, that we have a distorted view of reality.
So his view of the universe is distorted?

I thought the state outlawed the internet for institutions.

You've been making comments tonight that makes me think you're just interested in wasting my time. You mentioned that my sig was mixed up as well, saying my sig line appears to have one or more words all mixed up. There isn't enough space for a sig to be messed up like that Especially if you had the slightest idea of any of Oppenheimer's quotations Kindly carefully compare my sig and that of some of Oppenheimer's quotations I left below so I don't have any additional things to argue with you about, and compare them with the list of quotations made by Mr. Oppenheimer. You remind me of some commenter who chastised me for writing the wrong date. The wrong date. For God's sakes, the guy had nothing to contribute intellectually to any number of threads and wanted to be able to say he wrote something on Free Republic. That was years ago when I suffered fools gladly and i I come across another one like him he neither would be getting won't off too lighly or politely.

I've often asked;

why don't they implode ?
