Elementary school children who helped First Lady Michelle Obama plant her White House garden this year were rewarded for their labor, with arugula and snap peas.
On Tuesday, First Lady Michelle Obama joined school children from across the country to harvest the summer crop from the White House Kitchen Garden, Mrs. Obamas anti-obesity initiative Lets Move! said on its blog.
Children who helped plant the garden this April were invited back to the White House for the harvest, so they could see the fruits of their labors. Kids from two New Jersey schools affected by Hurricane Sandy were also invited.
First Lady Michelle Obama and the students got their hands dirty picking produce from the garden, Lets Move! said.

Were going to actually get to eat what we harvest today, Mrs. Obama told the children. So in addition to doing some harvesting, you guys are going to help were going to do some veggie flatbread pizzas with the vegetables from the garden.
You guys up for a little cooking, too? she said.
First up on the menu was a Garden Salad with Radishes, Spring Peas and White House Honey Dressing.
After picking the vegetables from the garden, Lets Move! said, White House chefs prepared a salad with spring garden lettuce, snap peas, radishes, and White House honey vinaigrette dressing, and grilled vegetable flatbread.
The recipe was posted online, and included two pounds of assorted greens, such as arugula, frisee, bibb lettuce, Romaine, [and] spinach. The salad also called for one cup of spring peas and four red radishes.
The children also were given the veggie flatbread pizza Mrs. Obama described, which was topped with broccoli, shallots, fennel, and chard leaves.
Shortly after moving in to the White House, the first lady ordered an organic vegetable garden built on the South Lawn, to promote healthy eating habits. In March 2009, Mrs. Obama said the gardens most important role would be to educate children about healthy fruits and vegetables.
My hope is that through children, they will begin to educate their families and that will, in turn, begin to educate our communities, Obama told the New York Times. Mrs. Obama then started her Lets Move! initiative to fight childhood obesity and change the eating habits of children.
So, Michelle forced them into being sharecroppers?
Reverse reperations in $500 Lanvin sneakers.
Hmm, SNAP peas? The implications of that subliminal message are telling.
LOL! I actually think Michelle just wanted the guilty pleasure of seeing white kids working in her field without pay. Snap-pea salad is code for “take that you cracker-ass, white kids”
She "ordered" it?!?
Yeah, she ordered it alright. To promote photo ops of her ugly self, and no other reason.
They must have replaced the soil there. I read initially that they found a lot of toxins in it.
Please, ma'am, I want some meat.
Five o’clock in the mornin’, I’m already up and gone Lord, I’m so tired, how long can this go on
‘Cause I making little money, hauling coal by the ton
But when Saturday rolls around, I’m too tired for having fun
Well, I’m working in the coal mine, going down, down, down
Working in the coal mine, whoop, about to slip down
Working in the coal mine, going down, down, down Working in the coal mine, whoop, about to slip down
Gads! Thats’s worse than the Muslim Jihadist who blows himself up and is rewarded on the other side with a bowl of white grapes.
Sounds delish.
Skip the dressing.
I like to taste my vegetables.
Unless you got some good mole’ sauce...

That is a crime against itallian food....

How I loathe these GRIFTERS!
Slaves don’t get to eat meat, because meat helps the brain develop....
Two weeks after she ordered it it was producing spectacular veggies. I know cause I saw it on the TV.
