Amen to everything you said. I wish FR had a ‘like’ button. BTW, she doesn’t smoke it, ‘cause she’s afraid she might want a cigarette (quit smoking at 69), but a chocolate every now and then helps! What IS the harm? ?At least in a case like this, you would think most people would be ok with WHATEVER helps!

It has also completely slowed the progression of a form of ALS in a friend of mine that should have been dead 10 years ago (based on the average progression of the disease)

I know someone who had a medical marijuana license in a state where you have to see two doctors to get such. It helps her with PTSD, back pain AND helps her sleep with her thyroid condition. I think a lot of posters are against medical marijuana because some states like Colorado treated it like a joke, giving licenses to 20-somethings who had nothing wrong with them - a de facto legalization before they finally came out and legalized it. But for those with the medical conditions in question such as pain and glaucoma, it does help and does have an effect.

It goes to a broader problem; the medical monopoly on medications. If I get an infection, my doctor can prescribe an antibiotic that will treat it. In the vast majority of cases this is virtually certain to be successful. If I get cancer, especially metastatic cancer, treatments are very often or most often in metastaitc cases, unsuccessful. If establishment medicine cannot treat with a high level of success, I should be free to choose my own medical treatment. I shouldn’t be limited to someone’s else’s demonstrated failures. Who has greater standing than me regarding what goes into my body?
