George W. Bush Skeptical of Senate's Immigration Bill
Big Government (Breitbart) ^ | May 30, 2013 | Matthew Boyle

Former President George W. Bush questioned the political motives of lawmakers behind the immigration bill making its way through the U.S. Senate during an interview with the Huffington Post’s Jon Ward this week.

Bush suggested that some in Congress pushing the legislation may be more concerned with winning votes than truly resolving the nation's immigration woes.

Ward described the former President’s mindset as a “desire not to criticize the GOP” but offering a “warning about the party's mad dash for immigration reform.”

“I think the atmosphere, unlike when I tried it, is better, maybe for the wrong reason,” Bush told Ward. “The right reason is it's important to reform a broken system. I'm not sure a right reason is that in so doing we win votes.

"I mean when you do the right thing, I think you win votes, as opposed to doing something that's the right thing to win votes. Maybe there's no difference there. It seems like there is to me though.”

When Ward asked Bush about Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Ward noted that Bush has urged his brother former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush to run for president in 2016 and that the former president “didn't have a lot to say about Rubio.”

"Rubio's articulate. I met him once, maybe twice. My brother likes him, so I like him," he said, according to Ward.

As the Washington Examiner’s Joel Gehrke points out, Bush supports the principle of immigration reform and reiterated that support in his memoir Decision Points. “In 2006, I gave the first-ever primetime presidential address on immigration,” he wrote. “‘We’re a nation of laws, and we must enforce our laws,’ I said. ‘We’re also a nation of immigrants, and we must uphold that tradition, which has strengthened our country in so many ways.’”

Yep. Pretty much, and a lock for Hillary, despite all the damning evidence against her on Benghazi. The Rovians will be three time, consecutive losers and the Founders nation, what’s left of it, will be a distant memory in the land of socialist utopia.

Rove is raising tens of millions for his

” No Conservative Left In Office” program.

Personally, I still like GWB in spite of his many mistakes and blunders. I never wondered about his honor or love for country.

I also would not mind if Jeb Bush was the selected presidential nominee... as long as it was on the Democrat ticket. Republicans need a viable conservative running for president. Otherwise there is no need for a Republican party.

Let the Rhinos leave and water down the Democrats’ socialism.

I can see the appeal of Common Core. While I have not read up on the specifics, I can understand people wanting a common history, common mathematics, common science, common indoctrination, common propaganda, common socialism, common Marxism, common environMENTALism . . .

Never mind.

Well... today they are reporting that Mitt Romney is having a secret meeting with 100 major republican donors to see what they can do to help in the mid terms elections. Yes, I heard it right. Chris Christie, Paul Ryan and Rand Paul will be there. I suspect Rand is being invited to make it look like they are covering the Tea Party but Rand has been going along too easy with this amnesty bill for my trust. So, it's already begun. They set Rubio up with Amnesty bill so NJ boy could run. We are so doomed if this is their plan and it looks like they are already trying to set the power in place as they did in the last election. I see now why Ann Coulter wanted Rubio out of the picture too. I don't trust her since she is an operative for the Gop. Rubio was too trusting and inside of the Gop-e too much (for years anyway) or it would have never happened if he were truly independent. The Gop e plan is in place. We all are just here hoping to get a good candidate. I hope Cruz does run.

I hope Cruz does run.

Then we can watch the same people who said John McCain was eligible to run for President -- as far as I know, he was -- proclaim that Cruz is not for whatever reason -- I believe that has actually been asserted already.

Please enter that last missive in whatever run-on sentence contest you like.

If even Bush, who tried to get amnesty through when he was President, is skeptical, that tells you how bad this bill is.

What is the difference between this and Simpson-Mazzoli, except Schumer is older?
